hey, I like your Bessa R photos. I was wondering how loud the camera actually is? If I do pick one up, I'd like to use it for street photos... Is it going to be obtrusively loud?

obtrusively loud... not really, certainly not as quiet as a leica, but at a mere fraction of the cost, i dont think its much of an issue.
It's not the quietest rangefinder, but its better than the previous bessa r's, and much better than and slr.

alright, I've never even seen a Leica in person, let alone shoot one, so I have nothing to base my opinion on. I guess I'll look for one locally, but probable end up buying one on eBay.

geeze ben. having you back on d.a is making it worth it for me to come back. i missed your presence. and your photography still gets me everytime. of course, i can just NEVER get over those photos your gallery holds on those glorious three weeks i was down under. and the new stuff you posted - i adore. the grain. grain grain grain. i FINALLY was able to switch rolls of film and i FINALLY got delta 3200, which i'm pretty much drooling over. regardless, your work truly is magical, and definitely is one of my main sources of inspiration if i do say so myself.

Not really. Anyone can get irritated by the lack of in-depth comments or any other downside to dA, but when someone gives you a positive comment, regardless of the way they phrase it, to totally ignore them, and or be sarcastic or aloof back, is totally ignorant, and just makes you out to be a pretentious wanker.
