Hey. VIII is my favorite and it's hard finding anything relating to it. You are like a sanctuary. I was actually drawn here by a picture you did of Nida. I'm playing a FF based DND campaign and while the other players elected to make new ones I'm playing Nida. Unfortunately in the games he didn't get any screen time and it was a running joke to be forgotten. It was nice to see him get some love so thanks. I'll be looking in on your page in hopes of new pics of him since I can honestly say you're the only person I know who has. Even if you don't I'm about to read EVERY. ONE. of these comics. Thanks is all.

I showed my friends your epic art and they love it! As one of them said to me many of the scenes here really capture Squall and Rinoa's personality as they were early and middle game. Both a little more on the immature, and childish side.
But that is what makes their relationship so great. Sure Final Fantasy has many great couples but Squall and Rinoa were complete opposites who grew together. Their flaws were evident and realistic, and their characters completely evolved by games end. They strengthen each others weaknesses and made each other stronger, wiser, and happier people. It is an epic romance and tale of personal metamorphosis!
Squall was always a strong and unsurpassed swordsman and warrior. Professional, thorough, and famous for getting results winning the admiration of his peers and instructors. He was reluctant of relationships, distrusting, cold, antisocial, and could be rude at times when pushed too far. Over time Rinoa inspired him to change. He became a fearless Lionheart of a hero who cares deeply for his friends and will do whatever it takes to help and protect them! Rinoa taught him to show he cares and trust his friends, live for the moment and don't let the future keep you from being happy here. He became a great leader, not just for his team but all of Balamb Garden, his own army! He took a long time to develop but he became one of the greatest Heroes in the series and arguably the best developed one! His personal growth was the largest transformation and the result was great fun to watch develop. He lead his team of Heroes to defeat Ultimecia and stop her Time Compression. They didn't just save the world under Squall's leadership, but all of time and space was restored, the very fabric of reality itself! They saved the universe!
Rinoa was always strong willed, brave, rebellious, idealistic, and not afraid to fight for what she believed in. She had a strong sense of justice. Her combat experience was limited however and her impulsive nature did get her into trouble, but Squall saved her. She was also the stubborn, spoiled, naive, at times hot headed, and a reckless youth. But her time with Squall changed her into being aware of how the world really works, and to thinking before she acts. She also was rapidly developing her skills in combat to keep up with her comrades who had all been trained to be the Elite SeeD Mercenaries they are today. Rinoa had a lot of growing up and becoming stronger to do. And she did! Rinoa proved herself to being a most capable warrior thanks to Squall's inspiration. In turn she is the only one in the group who succeeded in breaking down Squall's protective shell. Through unrelenting persistence and playful teasing she got him to open up as he had to no one else! Rinoa taught him to trust his friends. Squall became the epic friend and hero he is because of Rinoa. She inspired him to change his lone wolf ways, just he inspired her to be strong and wise by watching him. Squall also helped Rinoa through the hardest moments of her life, when she feared her own powers as it was discovered she became a Sorceress. And being a sorceress there was the very real danger Ultimecia could posses Rinoa as her personal Avatar and control all her power, just as Ultimecia did to Edea, and much later on Adel. Squall helped her accept who she was and their promise of love gave her the courage to face the future together.
Squall saved Rinoa on several occasions in the story, and in the end after they defeated Ultimecia, Squall was separated from the group by the dying Sorceress. Ultimecia in her final moments attempted to destroy Squall's memories of his past and his friends, and with his identity gone she could erase him from existence. But she died before she could complete her final revenge, however Squall was trapped in an endless dimension away from his own world. He collapsed and either was near death or died. Rinoa believed in their promise and used her full Sorceress powers to find him, not fearing her own power, but trusting her abilities as Squall taught her. She found him and rescued him with her Sorceress powers. Whether by healing him or reversing his time and restoring him to life, Β with the leftover Time Compression. Either way their promise of love endured, their love conquering all odds and defying the inevitable death that fate had in store for Squall.
They complete each other in a way unlike any other FF couple does, even though there are many great couples in Final Fantasy.Β There is no doubt they are the best developed couple in the series! Squall and Rinoa became arguably the greatest romance in the series, if not one of the best love stories and couples in all of gaming! My friends agree on this especially since they watched me make this post with their valuable insight haha!
