I am just a semi-insane artguy who dedicates his time to making things people can see or hear. I have a foot stuck in digital arts, another in music, and probably another couple feet on animation and written things.

I study Computer Science in California and plan to take that knowledge to study Multimedia Design in the future!

Also, I've been away from DeviantArt for like a year, so they were all in my inbox and I still have like 2000 more Deviations to go through lol X(

One more thing! I've been meaning for a while to educate myself on 3D modelling and using it for illustration & animation... what do you think might be a good start?

A good start? That's a toughie. Best I can offer is that many programs offer demos or learning versions for noncommercial work. I'd start there.

Actually, what I would do is check out the major packages and see what kind of work is being done with them, then decide if the package is for you.
