I sure am. Today I can feel all kinds of art just bubbling inside me, it's a cool sensation. My mom doesn't have another treatment until Thursday and right now she feels fine. Went out and had a balls to the wall awesome time last night with some of my best friends - drinking, kareoke, the works. Tomorrow...just work. Thanks for asking! You?

i'm glad your mom is feeling good and getting a little break from treatment!

I also feel art just waiting to burst out of me! i've had a very good couple of weeks:

last week i cornered the curator of the Yellowstone Art Museum and gave him a vague pitch for an installation piece... he was very receptive! so that's in the works - sort of a long term project i'll be putting together with a sound artist friend of mine.

and this week, the makers of iWallFlower created a deviantArt account just so they could contact me! iWallFlower is a drawing application for the iphone/ipod touch... you can immediately upload your drawings to a giant global collage. They saw the pictures i was uploading, and got ahold of me to ask if they could use my work in a promo video and have been sending me as yet unreleased versions of the app to beta test for them... i've spent the last three days hunched over a smoking iPod, drawing tiny pictures, discovering bugs, reporting them, downloading the fix, find more bugs, etc...

Although they are paying me for my time the last few days, it doesn't sound like they have steady work for me (my situation is much like yours - not enough work to go round these days - times are tight) - but who knows what these new contacts might lead to.

Ride that wave of art! Let it bubble up and and spew forth

Oh man, yay for you indeed! I hope you get that installation; I can't imagine how satisfying it would be to see my own artwork in an actual gallery setting! And the iWallFlower thing is an awesome opportunity as well, even if they don't represent a huge pile of cash, it's still exposure for your artwork! That is so cool. Do keep living my dream. <3

You HAVE to let me know how that possible installation pans out, k? That is seriously mind-blowingly exciting.

"Living the artists dream" usually translates to "Being very poor"...

but that's OK. i've learned to embrace unwanted down time from work as an opportunity to grow as an artist. when you don't have 9-5 obligations, you may not have much money, but you do have time! and as long as i'm spending my time pushing myself as an artist, i'm not wasting it. remember that; when your hours have been cut back and you're feeling trapped by poverty, view it as a gift of time that you can spend on YOUR work. gotta look for that silver lining

i will definitely keep you posted on the installation! the thought of seeing my work in a fine art museum is very exciting... hopefully, we can pull off what we're envisioning!

um, you mean, it's purpose of being a state, and a place to live? Clearly you're not doing it right. Land of milk and honey ever? Yeah. I love my hometown, and Washington, and the NW in general and I'm happy I live in one of the prettiest places in the world. Also, rain. Love the rain.
