It's good that I've cheered you a bit. Just don't let some contest you don't win, no matter if the judging is fair or not, block your fun in creating art. OFC, part of us always hopes to win but I for example mainly wanted to create what I saw in my head (and it was the biggest project for me so far, have never before drawn a complete Lineart form scrap, then coloured it).
I might have found a niche with mouse drawing, but I'm nowhere near perfect ^^ also, I don't wanna be, I want to grow with drawing and maybe someday be able to ban my thoughts on paper the way I really have them in my head. Drawing is and will always be a journey imho, as you constantly change ^^

I completely agree. no matter how the admins try to write it, it's still obvious they didn't want to browse everything that was entered. It's sad, too, cause I saw some really incredible works that deserved to be up there more than over half of the semifinalists. a lot of us starving artists were really counting on wacom/dA for this one. and thanks, yea I did it with my intuos3 (wacom, lol)

Hehe I only just got my first 'tablet', just a cheap one from aldi tho. but hey, better than nothing. did my contest entry with mouse and pencil.
Tbh, I started going through the entries sorted after "popular" too.. but then decided, ofc those are more popular that have no watchers and thus people will be informed when they create new stuff. so I've started looking from the least popular ones on.. There is a lot of pics there that look as if people didn't put effort in it (though sometimes it's hard to see as, well, y'know sometimes your effort just doesn't show) but also a lot of nice ones. I find it a pity a lot of nice entries don't even have 1 just because people overlook them for not being popular.
(Glad I got a few s from my friends as well )

and youre right.at least there were a few originals in the semifinals. i wonder if wacom will do anything.

I'm trying to and it's fun so we'll see. Mh, what should Wacom do? They agreed for the contest to be that way, they will choose one of the semi-finalists and thats it. And the community-chosen winner will definetely be one of the 'bigger' artists who have a lot of people watching and +fav ing them..

you should get an intuos3 or 4 if you really get into it, cause the pressure sensitivity rules for digital art

& yea lol. bummer stuff goes that way but cool for whoever wins. hope they really need it.
