Oh hey no problem! Thanks for the good read!

I'm doing pretty swell, I guess since we last talked I graduated, and now I'm teaching at a high school in reasonably-rural Japan! How about yourself?

Well, my placement request was "Somewhere warm, because I'm not that good in cold spaces." I'm down in Kyushu, so summer was glorious and I'm struggling my way through winter. I finally got my heating options sussed out last night so I'm doing ok on the cold front.

In terms of where I wanted to be, totally! I'm basically on track right now - I didn't want to get right started on science degree-pertaining career-trackery right after graduating, so I'm taking a year or two "off" in Japan (which is also a litmus test of sorts to figure out if I could actually live and work here without the government straight-up handing me a job and sorting out all my setup).

Also daaaaaaamn that is awesome. Any way I can read more of your work?

Oh yea does it glow in the dark when you use dark lights?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

schazer In reply to 2bsilver [2009-02-08 07:47:17 +0000 UTC]

Um... I suppose it would, cause it's white(ish, it's steadily going bone-coloured xD). I haven't tried it yet, though my friends tell me it looks pretty mint when I'm standing around in the dark anyway.

They did have glow-in-the-dark vinyl at the shop but it was half as much again per metre so I just thought screw it xD

I love your hoodie xD, What did you use to bind the vinyl to the frabric? Did you sew it or glue it?

How did you add the details? Draw them on with black or cut it so theres a thin line?

Can you wash the hoodie? or is it you cant wash it ever o.o;

xD thats the best version of the real hoodie ive seen xD

schazer In reply to 2bsilver [2009-02-08 07:45:36 +0000 UTC]

It's the same kind of vinyl that's used in prints on t-shirts, it's quite thin and stretchy and flexible on its own so it came adhered to heatproof transparent plastic. At the shop (I bought the vinyl from a t-shirt printing shop because I had no idea how to get it wholesale xD) They had an industrial looking press thing which applied uniform heat over the whole design.
Cause that's all it needs to stick, just heat. I used an iron Because I couldn't hold it perfectly flat there's some wrinkles and air bubbles I guess, so I have to keep taking an iron to it again.

As for the details... well, essentially each bit of vinyl was put on piece by piece with gaps in between. I actually had some bits which were too manky/dirty on the sticky side to restick with an iron so I cut them off and put new pieces on just recently.

Yeah, except I wash it by hand in a basin because I'm not sure what being tossed around in a washing machine would do to the vinyl. But I don't wash it as often as my mum'd probably like me to xD

Haha, thanks! ^^
