What I used to do was scan them into photoshop (taping the peg bar onto the side of my flatbed scanner) and save them out as jpegs, then put them into adobe premier on the timeline at a time range of 1 or 2 frames per second depending on the speed of the animation. I think alot of people use flash nowadays for 2d I did the puppy animation about 7 years ago now so no doubt things will have moved on alot, and I mostly just do 3d in maya now.

Only really old 2d ones that I really don't like anymore and proffesional work that I can't show, I am however doing a 2d animation in my spare time at the mo, but with a full time job and other personal commitments it's pretty slow going. As for the reason I swapped for 3d, I'm afraid the stability of a full time job instead of being on the breadline chasing after freelance work was the main factor. Also I really love video games and it's a great feeling to work on your 2nd favourite hobby by doing your 1st favourite hobby.

Ah fair enough, well I'm glad you're still doing some 2d! And that makes perfect sense about switching to 3d, I have no idea how much, if any, work there is for 2d, so I'm keeping options open for after my course!
Also the only reason I'm doing any 3d is because of my love of video games must be great to work with them; are you doing any particular part of 3d, like modelling, animation, rigging, etc?

aw cheers Dan, I'll have to say I really hate my gallery at the mo, I'd love to get some new work up and give the whole gallery a revamp, most of my stuff is so out of date and I find it really hard to look at it any more.

I know that feeling I'm trying to sort out my website its now have messing about alot a flash site. it be cool to see ya new work up I've tryed that portfolio thing on here to btw. wow I realy want this site finshed so I can go back to painting, animation, my Game idea and helping mark out here there while he teaches me maya lol. so much to so little time sigh

well if you need any extra help with Maya give us a shout, I've only been doing it for a couple of years but I have learnt some tricks on the animation side and I may be able to give you some useful scripts. Give us a shout when your new sites up though, that'll be cool to see.

script as in programing script? yeah well I was working on a character the made a low poly he need a idle and walk cycle done the cycle room for improvement. but the programer is making some ajustments to his engine.

animation scripts, like ones that will trace your arcs on motion trail (to see if you've done them right, maya's own version's crap) and auto tangent, to be fair you can find most of them on highend3d.com

yep, I'm still at Rare for the moment but my contract ends soon so I'm back on the hunt, I've already sent out quite a few showreels over the past week and a half but games companies don't half take their sweet time to get back to you even if their hiring. I'll probably start doing some chasing at the end of this week. Good luck with your film.
