Hiya, well, Japanese is my first language so I don't really know how to learn Japanese.
But when I learned English, I started from picture books. May be you can use comics as well.
We have Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji so I guess it's really hard learning our language!
Picture book for kids will start from only Hiragana, so it might be easier to start with.

#2 Popularity tips OwO ?!Popularity tips from me?  I'm not popular.. but here goes, I did figure out some stuff that might be useful. 
1.- Have 2 types of art- one that's very detailed. Even if your art is not that good, make it detailed. Maybe you can only draw cats, make a drawing of 100 cats cuddled together ! Have a few of these very detailed pieces and keep them on your profile page and on the featured page of your gallery at the very top!
Then you need Don't-Unwatch-Me art.  This art is just good enough that people won't feel like you're wasting their time. Post sketches, works in progress, little things, learn to keep it simple. Don't try to do "princess on an undead horse in armor jumping over a river of lava being chased by a dragon that's breaking trees with it's 10 huge wings" kind of art if you're going to spend 2
