i like your miniatures. i'm wanting to make some of my own... how do you go about doing it? i read under one of your pictures that you use wax?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

riramu In reply to Cpromp [2009-11-16 00:43:53 +0000 UTC]

thank you
they are made first of wax, then the mold is made, wax burns out and you cast them in metal. You should look up "lost wax method" if you want to know details.

Thanks for the kind words.

With respect to your question, a winged lion doesn't ring any bells. Lion are associated with Sekhmet and sphinxes, wings mostly with Ma'at. I don't think I ever saw them combined in a single creature, though.

Thanks
I looked into it furter and found that the greek sphinxes have wings. But I think I saw a wall relief of one like that in some documentary and that relief was in Egypt.

Sounds like something left by Alexander's troops (or the Ptolemy's that succeeded him).

Hi Riramu! ..... I just realized that i never replied the message you wrote for my drawing called Blood Drop, for some strange reason i thought i answered you but didn't.
So here goes the answer to your questions. The Decapitated head is looking angrily at the person who cut her head off ... then she realizes that the person who cut her head off was herself. Then someone took her head and hanged it to the pole by her hair.
The job that i had at the time was a shit job at a coffee shop on Bay Street close to the Biggest Book Store. I had to get that shit job for a lil while as it was the first job i was able to get right after graduation from OCAD.
AnywayZ i hope i was able to answer your questions ... Take Care and keep up the art work Eh!

Sincerely,

C.S.

Oh wow, its not every day you see sculptures like this on DevArt. If they are as tiny as they seem, I commend you. I always found it difficult to work on small scales of any medium.

Your pieces seem so small, precious and heavy that I have an incredible desire to pick them up. It is really interesting that their visual aspects can create such a tangible feeling. Overall, your entire gallery captivates me. I enjoy working in metal myself, but I can't imagine how you can do such intricate work on such small pieces in this medium. I am absolutely impressed.
