“Winter and Spring” is to large degree related to

DebutAlma sat on the hard wooden stool without a care in her head.  The teaching master had brought her and her three new sisters onto the stage some time earlier, and told Alma to sit and wait her turn.  So she sat.
One by one, her sisters had been called to stand and present themselves.  Alma did not pay attention to them, she hadn’t been told to do that.  Alma now did only what she was told, nothing else.  
Every once in a while, she would wiggle her toes.  The teaching master had taught to do that to help maintain and deepen her trance while awaiting direct commands.  As the toes of left foot rippled, pleasant sensations coursed through her body, causing her to remember again and again how much she loved the masters and how she’d do anything to please them.
Alma was about to lift the toes of her right foot, when the teaching master spoke directly to her. His tone, as always, was gentle and polite.
”Alma, please stand and join me


And

Ready“I’m ready, sir.”
Tina’s voice was bright and chippy, a marked contrast with the entranced monotone of her recent conversations with me during her hypnotic conditioning.  
“Don't you think, I should be the judge of that, Barefoot Tina?”
She looked crushed.  “Of course, sir...I didn’t mean to be disrespectful.....I....I.....”
”Calm yourself...and listen.”
Her expression again relaxed, her placid smile blossoming again.
”You want to listen because you’re my *Good Girl*.”
The trigger’s effect was immediate. Her toes wiggled, her eyes blinked, and her smile became more natural, more sensual.  When she stopped blinking, her gaze focused on mine.
”Thank you, sir....I am your *Good Girl*.”
I was pleased with her response.  It wasn’t just her rote, pre-programmed spoken words.  It was the immediate physiological and emotional reactions that told me that her
