Hi Mark!
Well, I've started the selection process. I ordered 9 of the 12 prints listed in my Journal. (Oops, I forgot three on the list were not "print ready" from DA).
Currently, I'm pretty solid on three, the Plover, the Bird of Paradise and the Mongoose (Illegal Alien - the print is SO good!), but I'm waffling on The End now. Sunray/sunrise/sunset stuff ain't me - the palm trees look very cool when mounted behind glass, but the 3-D effect is lost w/o the glass. Arrggg! I need to commit to mounting 4 on foamcore soon, my framing shop sometimes takes two weeks and I don't want to rush them. Drop dead date for submittions is August 14th (a month away, sure, but remember the two weeks for foamcore, plus emgercies, etc.). Maybe I should get on the stick and order Jasmine Male printed (finally accepted). Funny how one's attitudes on your own work changes day to day. Thanks for your interest, support and views, I really appreciate all!
Have a great DAy!!!! Rob the Swash

Rob:
I have been working with Matalic Paper for competition prints and would really encorage you to look at experimenting with that type of paper for a few of your prints. It really makes em jump.

Hi Mark!
Thanks for your input on my journal. I'm still looking. Right now, the front runners are Illegal Alien, P.G. Plover, Bird Of Paradise and The End. The End is wavering on the edge. It's a favorite here at DA and I really like the palms when the picture is behind glass (strong 3-D effect), but not really a scenery type person - I'd rather go with birds.... Very hard decision, I'm looking at them again with the idea of bold contrasts (well, that's what won last year!).
Have a great DAy!!! Rob the Swash

Hi Mark!
Thanks for your suggestions on Malachite Butterfly. I try to shy away from overly cropping shots (used to do that too, too much), but I'll have to see how this looks. Too late for the State Fair, I've already submitted my final 4.
I'll try it out when I have a chance, interesting suggestions!
Have a great DAy!!! Rob the Swash

Hi Mark!
Thanks for the great comment on my juvy heron! You might remember that I'm a supporter of a heronry site. One of the functions I offer are images from the site, colony progress in various forms. After the fledges survive their first flight, they stay near their nests, learning to hunt at the relative safety of Blackriver. The juvy I photographed knew I was there, but didn't seem too spooked. I've been lucky to get very close to a lot of heron, but never one this young and likely to survive. (In last year's season, I found a juvy that failed to fledge, broke it's wing and soon after I found it, died. It's in my gallery, too)
I'm really getting to love my E-1 the more I play with it. I'm still kinda bummed about the lens issue, Canon would have allowed me a wider range. On the other hand, I really like it's saturation, pic density, details, nice CDD.
Well, have a great DAy!!! Rob the SWash

because you're pissing people off then directing them at his art. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out he's gonna get angry comments.

Hi Mark!
Thanks for the great comment on my wife's egg ornaments series. She is great, isn't she?
I've not heard a thing from Herons Forever. Totally in the dark. No sales from me either. I'm thinking I should maybe have an event here at work (we make airplanes...where do you think we got THAT idea?).
Have a great DAy!!! Rob the Swash

Having a look at your gallery to see if I can find the shots that were taken using the Nikon AF-S VR 70-200mm lens. I really like the photo of the hot air balloons (I've only looked at the first page of your gallery so far!). You have yourself a very nice gallery - great action shots and very beautiful stills!

Thank you for your kind comments. I am using Nikon cameras with Nikon, Tamaron, and Sigma glass. I try to list what was used on each picture if you would like to have exact details.
I hope to hear from you again.

Thank you so much for posting that colored version of your photo of Marblehead. It's beautiful. I'll be checking out the rest of your work too.
Sorry I didn't get to stay on here long enough last night to see it then.
