Lol whoops, I submitted my reply too early and didn't respond to your second question.
Do you mean things like after-school clubs and that sort of thing? Like stuff you do at school but aren't part of any class? Because if that's what you meant...I don't do anything xD

We hope he's recovered. Apparently the melanoma won't be coming back, touch wood, but Crohn's has a nsty reputation for reappearing after around five years. Since next year is year four, we're holding thumbs that that doesn't apply here.
What's your heart condition? A friend of mine has a hole in his heart lining. The only thing I truly suffer from is chronic indecision coupled with wicked sinus, and an allergy to bee stings. With the bees you guys have there being tame in comparison to ours, you can imagine the danger...
π: 0 β©: 1
VengefulRonin In reply to pandoradieter [2009-10-31 09:00:20 +0000 UTC]
That's good the melanoma (hopefully) won't be coming back. Hope Crohn's doesn't decide to come back :/
I have "transposition of the great arteries", which is just a fancy way of saying the arteries of my heart developed backwards. Had open heart surgery when I was a month old, they made a new hole somewhere and rerouted things, so I have to take medicine every day to keep my heart beat regular (well, as regular as it can be).
My sinuses are pretty bad, and I'm not even allergic to anything. Went to an allergist, they tested me, said I had "chronic non-allergic rhinitis", meaning I get the symptoms of allergies without having any allergies. Yay.
Some of our bees can be mean, but it's mostly the wasps that have worse stings. Do you have the African killer bees (or whatever you call them) over there? I know they're quickly spreading through the US, but I don't know if they've reached my state. I'm not worried though, even potentially dangerous insects like me xD

pandoradieter In reply to VengefulRonin [2009-11-02 06:47:39 +0000 UTC]
Backwards-moving arteries, huh? To be fatally honest, I've never heard of that before. My English teacher at school (a total bitch who I ended up loving to bits) always said, "Learn something new every day." You've just taught me something new. you heartbeat being irregular, does that affect getting excited about things?
I recently had a conversation with one of the architects we work with (my aunt's company does office space planning (design)) and he said that he has a doctor friend who can permanently cure my sinus issues. I'm trying to decide whether or not to accept the offer of help, or whether I should take it with a TABLESPOON of salt. Who knows, maybe it's legit.
As for the bees. I'm not sure whether or not they're the "killer" variety, but as venom goes, they are generally more vicious than the types you guys have there. African "critters" have that habit, you know: being the biggest and baddest in the world.

Haha, I don't think many people have heard of it...it's probably not very common. It doesn't really affect me getting excited about things, I just can't do anything strenuous like sports or jogging or the like, I'll get tired very quickly.
Permanently cure? Hrm, I'd be skeptical too...plus I'd be scared to have people scraping tools around in my sinus cavity.
Hope you don't run into too many of those bees, then. Lol yes, africa does have some awfully huge things, like your armored ground cricket. Does your country have those things? They're about the most badass cricket I've ever seen, and pretty huge.

sorry, i had to look it up on wikipedia (he he he!) i know them by the name King Cricket or Koringkriek (kwoo-rrrihng-krrreeek) ya gotta RRRoll 'em RRR's. yep, it's a pretty fearsome bug, that one. i looked up the pictures on Google now - HAH!! the ones they have loaded are rather pathetic to one i've seen before. it looked like it was wearing armour out of Lord of the Rings.O_O
shame, man. at least you don't have to worry about staying trim. from the photos i've seen of you, i doubt that'll ever be a problem.
as for my nasal appendage... i don't know. i've been thinking about it. i need to be able to breath. our summers are dry here in the Cape, so when i get hot, instead of bleeding, my nose clogs up for a BOO!. so i would really like to try it, but if i don't see results immediately, or if he wants me to pay an exorbatant amount for it, i'm not going to try it. i'll go for acupuncture instead. at least then i know roughly what's happening.
π: 0 β©: 1
VengefulRonin In reply to pandoradieter [2009-11-06 05:53:54 +0000 UTC]
No way, they get even bigger? Awesome! So wish we had badass Lord of the Rings crickets here, we just get these nastyass camel crickets: [link]
Haha, that is so very true. I'm a bit underweight actually, but I've always been that way. It's probably got something to do with my heart.
I think I'd rather try acupuncture, unless I knew a ton of people who'd undergone the surgery and it worked and was cheap. At least your summers are dry though, breathing gets even worse when it's extremely humid outside.

Try get a closeup of the Armoured; these two bugs seem to be related somehow. OOh, OOh, and look up Mole crickets. They're the coolest, and also the most harmless of the species.
I've finally started picking up weight myself. I also used to be rather skinny (not underweight, just plain SKINNY) and now i've started adding some oomph to myself. It's a side affect from sitting on my arse all day long. Yuk.
I've decided to try for teh acupuncture. One day, when I have spare money, though!

What in the...mole crickets have front feet like moles O___O How incredibly strange and awesome
Haha, I sit on my ass all day and LOSE weight. I think I'd rather put on a few pounds from it.
Acupuncture definitely sounds safer. Even if it doesn't work, you don't have to worry about the inside of your sinus cavity being all screwed up (well, worse than it is already).

i suppose, eh...
ja, i've only seen a mole cricket once in real life - and then i almost bawled my eyes out when someone (i can't remember who) squished it. i was so upset. but other than that, they're cute, hey?
on the weight issue - julian said out of the blue yesterday that it looks like i've lost weight again. thinking about it, it's possible. i didn't have any red meat last week, as an experiment. hehe. may be it worked.
speaking of mole crickets -been thinking i should put one up on my Facebook profile. it'll definitely be unique!

That bastard! Crushing a mole cricket!
Hrmm...no red meat contributes to weight loss? So if I eat lots of red meat maybe I'll gain weight? *schemes*

apparently so.
may i ask what happened between your mom and the neighbours? i don't usually mingle, but when i see the words "Chritian" and "bigotry" in the same line, my interest is totally piqued.
also... if my constant messages ever get too much, just scream - for me it's a chance to learn about other places and speak to other people, but as i say, if it ever irritates you, just scream. or switch your PC off
try more red meat, but speak to a physician first - apparently i'm losing weight on the white meats because because my blood type (A+) doesn't support the breakdown of the reds.

You may ask, but it's an insanely long and complicated story. I'll give you an EXTREMELY short version of it though:
My mom tutors the little boy that lives next door, he's got aspergers and ADHD.
Being a Christian, my mom has a problem with bisexuals and gays. I'm bi.
In her crazy, fucked up mind, she correlates bisexuality and homosexuality with pedophilia.
Because I hang out with the kid sometimes, she started thinking I was turning into a pedo. She told a pastor, who in turn told her to tell the parents (because legally when you have suspicions of child abuse you're obligated to call the police, and he didn't wanna do that, so it was a way to get out of that).
So now the kid's parents will think I'm a pedo. And if she explains to them that she was WAY off base, they're still going to think she's insane (which she is) and probably avoid the hell out of us...or as much as next door neighbors can avoid each other.
Believe it or not that was the short version XD And don't worry about the frequency of your messages, it's really not a bother at all.
That's strange...didn't know blood types could affect how the body handles types of food. I don't even remember what blood type I am >_>

Wow.
what a story. there is such a difference between being gay/bi and being a peadophile that it boggles the brain that people would still even consider putting them in the same category. my mother's Christian, too, and when i came out to her (being gay can be fun sometimes)she also spoke to her pastor about me. i had such a laugh. it's sad about the perception of the neighbours, though. it's so unfair that our parents' mistakes very often come back to haunt us. I can see how she'd want to avoid being labelled as LOONY, but come on, when it endangers someone else's reputation? lifestyle?, the honest "Christian" thing to do would be to come clean.
it's strange how this story follows right on the heels of a video i just saw on my Facebook page - Betty Bowers and the Biblical Interpretation of Marriage. it was a hoot, you should see it if you get the chance.

Yeah, no kidding. THANKFULLY the mother of the kid she tutors came over today when I was at school to talk to my mom, sort of explained to her that being gay/bi has nothing to do with being a pedo and that she and the rest of her family are still cool with me. But I'm still kind of upset my mom would actually do something like that x_x
LMFAO. Oh wow, just finished watching that video on youtube, FANTASTIC. There really are all sorts of fucked up ideas of marriage in the bible, funny how Christians never seem to remember that. I should show that video to my mom xD

heh heh heh!! my mom said the same thing, but not about seeing the video herself - she sits behind me and listened to the whole thing. she suggested i show it to her boyfriend's mother and to my paternal grandmother. Ouma, (Oh-ma), we call them in Afrikaans. Grandmothers, that is. this particular Ouma is a bit of a stirrer in the family. my cousin told me that, when she visited them the last time, she was adamant my mom would go back to my dad. and a whole lot of other nonsense. but that isn't the worst of what she's done.
anyway...
i haven't been Christian in a long time. been happily Pagan for a few years now. i must say, it gave me such a different outlook on life.

Oh dear, you have grandmother troubles too? x__x Just makes me want to dump them in nursing homes.
I'm uh...well I dunno what I am. I think there's some sort of god out there, but there are just so many contradictions and things wrong with Christianity I can't believe it.
π: 0 β©: 1
pandoradieter In reply to VengefulRonin [2009-11-13 07:45:02 +0000 UTC]
let's put it like this: there's nothing wrong with Christianity, but there is some major issue with Christians. it's as if they're so blinded by their sense of religion that they often refuse to see the other things in life. I'm Pagan in the form of being a Goddess-worshipper, so i've been learning to be more accepting of other things.
as to what you are... who says you need to be anything, anyway? that's up to you; each person makes his own spirituality.
i tried to set up a chat with you when i saw you were online, but this site doesn't have that single chat option like other sites do

Yes, Christians are blind alright...and alot of the time it's a matter of not even wanting to see things from a different perspective and learn about them. It's easier for them just to condemn.
Exactly. My mom is always trying to convert me back and I'm like "plz stop."
Lol, that's DA for you, this site is weird <_<

pandoradieter In reply to VengefulRonin [2009-11-13 08:07:47 +0000 UTC]
no lies there! to either statement. my mom's different, though, and also the one lady whose husband plays in the band with Julian. they're rare. in my mom's case, though, when she left my dad, it was a case of, "who am i to throw stones?". leaving my dad was a real eye-opener for her.
my philosophy on conversion: try it and fry. i like being non-Christian, not only because i'm gay, but also because i feel better able to handle the things life throws at me without constantly feeling "morally compromised".
if you're interested: Facebook: Dieter Kyle Kok. at least facebook lets a person know that you have a message. on DA i have to keep checking - not that i'm actually complaining, it gives me the chance to see what's new in the world of art.

VengefulRonin In reply to pandoradieter [2009-11-13 08:24:37 +0000 UTC]
My parents are still together somehow. Before I was born my mom became a Christian and my dad nearly divorced her because of that, over the years he's grown more tolerant of her. I'm disheartened though, she's finally starting to slowly convert him. He used to be normal ;_;
Yes, I like not having to feel morally compromised. Not that I'm going to go out and do something clearly unethical, like rob someone, but I don't want to live my life watching every step I make hoping it matches up with the approval of a book that supposedly is inspired by some supreme being. That's not living, that's subjugation.

hi hi.

Gaat alles verder goed?
