I was recently trying to think of how we met, now that I've realized its bloody 2011. Do you remember?

Can you tell I'm getting old? I'm lucky if I remember my niece's name from day to day. (hangs head in shame)

Late reply, but: You're welcome! It was pretty clear to me that it was PTSD at the 3rd flashback. It's pretty common for 'new' details of the traumatic event to emerge at each re-living. My wife suffers from this, and while I believe whole-heartedly that it's important for soldiers to get the treatment they need. I think that the other sufferers have been overshadowed (by media sensationalism mostly, not by you or other organizations calling attention to it) Anyway, this is an excellent piece that offers a full-spectrum view into the reprecussions- including the domestic stress that it causes. I'm glad that you wrote the spouse as supportive- an example. While there are real situations that result in divorce, it doesn't help the PTSD sufferer and really just creates more victims.

Thanks very much for your response! This kind of feedback is so helpful.
I absolutely recognize that PTSD exists beyond the community of combat vets, that's just my chosen focus.
Please give your wife my best! And thank you for 'soldiering' through this with her. No one should fight this alone.

Yeah, sort of. I log on and check my watch, and occasionally think about submitting- Ah, but then I'd have to have something to submit.
Lately I've been more active looking around for inspiring things on here. Not much is more inspiring than reading than reading quality work. I think I left initally because it became so hard to sift through the manga/fanboy refuse and dallying lovedripped poetry, and I was put off by a lot of the pornographic writing. I don't think people get the difference between sensual suggestion and straight up porn-lit. .... I digress- What I meant to say was thank you so much for actually stopping by and commenting. I'll need the fuel to try again.
Sorry for the rant

Hey, no worries. You will find a lot of folks agree with you, you realize. I certainly do.
Your note was very compelling; I had to check it out. I hope you'll be adding more work in the near future (I've added you to my deviantwatch list). If you'd like, I can send you links to a handful of writers I appreciate on here. I'd like to know the people whose work you usually read, too.

Thank you again. Yes, I would very much appreciate a set of links. As for those I read, you have to understand that I wasn't very outgoing on this site to begin with, and I'm coming back from about a four-odd years absence, so a few old friends I've tried are inactive, but I'll poke about a bit and get back to you.
~mere-ambivalence was always very inspiring, in words as well as photos.
Depending on the submission, I've enjoyed ~theneonhamster , and ~elevenofhearts who have been away for a while. And `youthculture , who is still around, I think. As for more recently, I discovered ~kakashiplushie via a Daliy Deviation the other day, and
I find the character of ~earthen to be top notch. She doesn't submit 'art' per se, but leaves comments of encouragement, and she journals- but they are so open and so pure that they cannot help but inspire and attest to the hope of humanity.
earthen and mere-ambivalence are by far my two favorite people on deviantART. Poke around their pages and I think you'll adopt them, too.
That's really all I've got to offer you at this point.
