# About me

Hi,

My name is Lee and welcome to my profile!

I am a creative man who enjoys indulging his artistic side. For many years I’ve barely tapped into this inner resource but I have now started to ramp up my output.

I’m not short of ideas but I am short of time so I do what I can, when I can. I am currently trying to produce new creative items on a weekly basis during my ‘creative Saturdays’ where I pack up my pencils and sketch pad then either head off to my favourite cafe to see what comes out or work on a project elsewhere.

I have ambitions to become a semi-professional artist which I would define as being someone who takes commissions alongside my regular full time job (working in I.T.) If I could earn enough money to fund my own studio rental then that would be a dream come true! There are some truly amazing artists on dA who really inspire me. I do not count myself amongst their ranks by a long shot but I am happy to do what I do and strive for future greatness :)

I enjoy working with all kinds of materials; graphite, coloured pencils, paints, yarn and aren’t afraid to try out new things (see my chalk Che picture for example lol.)

Also, I write the odd bit of poetry which literary types would probably find rubbish but I don’t care. Poems just serve as another outlet for the bounty of creative energy I was blessed with.

Watch this space. Things are only going to get bigger and better!!!!

Lee x

I like your name, it seems apt with all your interests. How long have you knitted for?

Hi White-Hand and welcome to dA!

I'm glad you like my name. It took a long time to think of something suitable that wasn't already taken What is the meaning of your name if you don't mind me asking?

I've been knitting for probably about two years now and am at around intermediate level. Although, I tend to churn out more simplistic items so that I can be more sociable when knitting. If the pattern is complicated I have to completely concentrate. What about you? Your work looks quite accomplished.

You're welcome Richard. I've never seen paintings quite like yours before. You have a great knowledge of anatomy, lighting, well... just about everything really as far as I can tell lol and you still manage to be original. Technique is sterile without emotion but you've got the balance right bud. Look forward to seeing what you come up with next. P.S. Hope you're not affected by the flooding in Devon. I hear it's half under water!

Just realised I posted my thumbnail rant after you'd replied.

Thanks, I'm really pleased with it. Elvis is now framed and hanging on the wall. My uncle has even asked me to get him a print of it so that's a great endorsement.

D'ya know I've never watched the winter Olympics? I watch the regular Olympics, especially the last one for obvious reasons. I usually prefer to participate in sports rather than watch with the exception of football and ice hockey. Regular Olympics I like; boxing  , gymnastics  , swimming    , running  . Oh and I'd only over root for team GB    What a bout yourself?

Same to you. I'm afraid it passed me by relatively unnoticed which is a shame as Chinese culture is rather fascinating. Next year I'm going to find a celebration to gatecrash!!!

By CNY I meant Chinese New Year. Damn my lazy typing

Tofu is amazing if cooked properly! I am a vegetarian so my choices are somewhat limited when ordering out (although I eat like a king at home).

I usually go for anything tofu, sauce or noodle based; vegetable chow mein, stir fry, spring rolls, Chinese vegetable curry etc. I'm impossible to creep out. We had a colleague from the American office visiting the Sheffield office once and we all went to a hardcore Chinese restaurant. A mate of mine ordered pigs intestines which was too much for me but the lad from the states ordered the frogs legs and dared me to. So, I thought "what the hell, you only live once." They arrived and I devoured them, vegetarian or not those frogs legs went down! I was sadly disappointed though as they were extremely rubbery and not very meaty. Maybe they weren't prepared properly

Well, since I don't live in the UK, I can't help you gatecrash a Chinese party , but the parties in the many Chinatowns in the US are crazily fun!   All the fireworks, parades, dancing, the "flying" dragons...... and never forget the food.

notyouraveragegeek In reply to bite-size-fox [2014-02-01 01:09:01 +0000 UTC]

Haha, never fear. I can sniff out a party over this side of the pond. Sheffield has a large population of Chinese students so they must have something going on. We don't have a Chinatown though unfortunately and definitely no flying dragons in my life other than my large dragon tattoo

Who could forget the food?! Hmmmm, Chinese food. You're making me hungry now! Sounds like you've had a blast of a CNY!?

nope.  i live near DC, but good guess.

So, what's your fav. Chinese food?  I just love deep fried tofu cooked in soy sauce (not too sure what the dish is called), my mom's spring rolls, fried frog legs--creeping you out yet?, deep fried rice ball stuffed with ground pork, sesame balls......

Haha, when I said CNY I meant Chinese New Year

Well, I am vegetarian so my options are often limited when ordering out (although I eat like a king when at home). I like vegetable chow mein, Chinese curry, egg fried rice, spring rolls, sweet and sour sauce, stir fry etc.

You aren't creeping me out as I have to confess to trying frogs legs once. A colleague was visiting from the states and we all went out for a work evening meal. We took him to a hardcore Chinese restaurant. Someone ordered stuffed pigs intestines which was too much for me but the lad from the U.S. ordered the frogs legs and dared me to do the same. Never one to refuse a dare I promptly ordered the same. Vegetarian or not, when they arrived I devoured them! Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the experience as it was akin to eating rubber. I don't think they were prepared properly?

My favourite food though (other than chips, beans, two fried eggs and bread with butter) has to be Indian curry! Just had one tonight in fact Are you a fan?

EH?  Whoops, my bad.  I thought you meant the Chinatown of NYC.  (I'm not too good with texting and abbreviations since I don't care for phones which is really weird considering the era and generation we are currently in.)

Frog legs--properly prepared and fried that is--should taste like very tender chicken.  Was the meat like starch white and the skin a light yellow--a little darker (and browner) than McDonald's french fries?  Or maybe your frog legs was prepared differently?  (Boiled, steamed, baked?)

I don't like curry unfortunately.  I'm not a big fan of spicy food even though I have a rather high tolerance for it.  Maybe it's 'cause the only curry I have eaten was made from the curry powder packs--not sure what to call it?
