They've mentally stamped it as canon, like, no, this thing was made specifically for Mavis, it's not just a thing anyone can be, it don't work that way. What reason would Lucy have being in there?! I've seen people coming up with theories regarding Lucy turning into the new Lumen Historie, but they're so...IDK, they just came up with them without any proof that that will happen/is likely to happen. Lucy will help Natsu when he turns into END, but she won't do it by being the new LH

Actually, he's had way more development than people realize, and now he's hardly being used for comic relief anymore, and he rarely just does something silly, imma actually write a journal about it today, but in the very beginnig, although Natsu clearly loves the guild and his friends, has more disengaged from everyone. He's indifferent, doesn't care unless they're in serious danger. His only team member is Happy and knowing him they're always out on missions, they come back and eat/fight, then probably go home. He views the other members as weaker, and is meaner than we see him as now.

But when Lucy joined, he slowly started becoming nicer and friendlier, probably because of the hole that had been there since Lisanna's death had been filled. Lisanna was a bright point in his life, and with in his life now, not only is she brighter, but she's a perfect fit with him, and the way they both think is, well, abnormal.

Everyone dismisses this simple development so much, and just rereading some of the first chapters last night these facts were more than obvious

I have a reason why I dislike Gray, for being a cold bastard and cocky bitch, BUT I realize he is a strong mage and I respect his role in the story. I don't disregard his pros along with his cons. Haters don't have a reason, and hate because of something meaningless, and disregard the whole character because they don't like them, like they do with Lucy and Natsu.
