Np, love your work. I have a nikon d50 im going to trade up to a d300 with a fixed 50mm. Any tips for shooting human subjects. I do not have a flash. I have only really shot cars.

Sounds good. I'm a Canon person myself, but once you get to a certain level of camera it really doesn't make any difference imo.
As for shooting people: Trial and error, unless you can afford to go to a few workshops, but I really recommend investing some money in a few lights. One or two studio flashes will do wonders (300 mWs or higher), plus a regular flash for the camera. Make sure the lights and flash can do TTL.
You also should consider lenses (a lens) with a very high aperture - 1.4 should do fine, if you want to use natural light and no flashes.
I do post my EXIF data on the files I upload, so that could be a starting point.
