At least watch the first episode at some point. That way, I could direct you to this really heartbreaking fanfic that somebody wrote. It's awesome, and not just because of how the show makes a few Ho Yay-related jokes between Sherlock and John multiple times and how wonderful the fandom for it is.
I suggest hopping onboard when you get the chance - the next season is gonna be popping up early next year.

I really love how at least 3/4 of the comments for the fic on LJ alone (because the way I found it was through FFN) said something along the lines of "OMG! Why must you make us cry over this?" I find it amazing, especially since it actually got me slightly teary-eyed too.

I didn't actually start crying, but yeah, it's the near-ending parts that got to me the most. The ending itself was really bittersweet.

Hell, some people in the Sherlock fandom (or at least the ones on LJ and Tumblr) are starting to think of this fic as a right of passage sort of thing for any new members of the fanbase. Kind of depressing way of unofficially initiating people into our group, but it definitely shows how touching it is to everyone.
