Oh just as a reference to give them an idea of how to draw something. Don't worry, I haven't had them directly copy anything. They're still in the beginning stages of their artistic career and I was helping them to learn how to draw action poses, and other sorts of poses. (I am not the best at describing how to draw specific things). Your stock photos simply showed them different types of stances and poses that I couldn't really describe.
We were actually working on a project together--myself and 3 other artists--but then we realised the impossibility of it at the present time and abandoned the idea.
I hope I haven't done anything to offend.

Yeah. I would bring up an image and say, "here's a guy with a sword, draw something like it." And they would be like, "aaaaaah! So that's what you meant!"

So we are not allowed to submit photos that have been edited in any photo editors at all, correct?

Slight editing is fine in the sense that you can do some small post-processing such as adjusting brightness, contrast, etc.
Anything more than that distorts the photograph is not allowed.
