HI Kendall!!
Great to hear from you! Thanks for the GREAT comments on my Kingfisher shots. I know what you mean, I have trouble with most crested birds, but Kingfishers are the worst - but IF you nail one, it's really, really good. Glad you enjoyed them and hope you capture one well someday, too.
Have a great DAy!!! Rob the Swash

After dealing with viewing problems with EI (wasn’t able to send or fully read messages, I finally fix that mess by changing my old viewer by Firefox ) so I have to stop by and to you for your incredible captures! Indeed, I’m not usually a big fan of bugs, birds… shots but i think that is because those kinda photo must be like yours : Top quality and big size! Honestly your work is breathtaking!
THANX for sharing your masterful skilled results with us!!!

Hi Kendall!
Thanks for the great comments and the ! Yes, I upgraded both my stand-alone shooting camera (Olympus E-1) and my digiscoping camera (Nikon Digiscope PRO!). I really love the Olympus, but the lenses are too expensive and not enough versions (more coming, but they are really, really expensive!). The Nikon setup is better than the cludge I used (Sony and Celestron), but NO manual controls that are pissing me off a bit (much higher quality, just miss the control!). I'm very happy to see you commenting my stuff as you're THE photographer I respect most.
Have a great DAy!!! Rob the Swash

Thanks for 9 great comments. They are all appreciated. Guess I'd better tell you how I made the frog shot so you can change your underwear. Trichery and magic. The trickery is 2 shots located about 15 miles apart. The magic is photoshop. Put the frog shot on the top layer and erase everything but the frogs and reeds they are on. Line it up with the bottom layer (the background) then use the blur tool set at about 10% and soften the edges of the of the top layer(the frogs), then flat the image and lightly soften the whole image. Of course you need 2 shots with the light coming from the same direction. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Hi Kendall!
Great comments! Thanks and it's sure nice to hear from you again!! I got to go to the Big Island of Hawai'i. It was very nice and an excellent change from the drab days here. Speaking of which, I don't mind overcast days, but that afternoon was just plane dark (in the details of the bird's feathers, you can see lots of grain....ugghh). Looks OK, but prints not so good.
I was very pleased with the birds of Hawai'i! Many seemed almost tame. Wish I could have spent more time in the rainforests, where the coolest birds hang out. Cool waterfalls, too! Oh and the waves were pretty mild while we were there, didn't kick up until after we left.

44...old fart...damn kids...I'll be 59 in 5 days!!! I do feel better about your macros being sharper than mine. I've been playing with cameras off and on for 30 years, but this is just my second summer for macros. Got the Gitzo and Monfroto head, but still need the focusing rails.

Thanks for your great comments on 'Hummingbird Moth - 05,' ' Eastern Tailed Blue on Depford,' 'Spring Azure - 05' and 'Eastern Tailed Blue Butterfly.' First, your Hummingbird Moth is beter than mine, you got a lot mor detail on the wings (great job). On the Blue's rubbing their wings, if watch the Pearl Creasents, they will do it also. I don't know if they are clearning or just warming them up. As for open wing shots, the Sulphurs drive me nuts. They fold their wings as soon as they land and they have beautiful color on top. Sorry it took so long for me to answer, my ISP is having probs and I can't get online at home.

I am SO GLAD you're back on dA. It was so not the same without you man.... It sucked.
I just got back from NYC and DC and stuff...
When're you comin' down this winter? We'll have to hook up, of course. Maybe we can shoot some Orchids in the Fakahatchee strand this time... There's no other place in the U.S. I'd rather be taking photos than the Fakahatchee. I think I'm going to get a super wide angle lense too.... I got some ideas for some shots and I think a super wide angle would really help me get 'em how I want 'em.
Call me!
Later Kendall.
