welcome...I am trying to come back into the loop in designing 3D again, haven't done so in a few yrs...

I don't have time to come back into photo.
Daz is cool for 3D picture.

I got into photography but like everything I do I run into a wall as I reach a certain plateau and I want more....So I am coming back into 3d again...Some don't see what is done as ART, they see ADULT...
So I don't share many of my creations as I don't feel like reading comments that depict ANYONE's work as being ADULT...I express myself and my wife knows I create for ME and no one particular person
or group....

I understand you. Sometimes I had troubles with people having very small ideas about "Art". With them, almost 90% of the painters of the Quattrocento would be burned.

Times-a-changed so to speak....60-75 percent want you to go to their PAY-2-View sites and so many when asked a constructive question never take the time to answer, afraid to give away trade secrets....Guess I'm just getting old...IfΒ 1/2 of the self claimed artists took the time to
comment on anothers placement or work it would make a worldly difference but as I stated Times Have Changed....

I agree.
...I don't really consider myself as an artist and I don't have a pay to view website Β Form me, 3D/CGI is only a hobby.
Sometimes, people ask me for some information about my works. As far as I can, I try to answer.Β
Unfortunately, I think I know only 20 or 25% of the possibilities of Daz and nothing about other 3D softwares.
I noticed one thing: some of my works have a lot of views and some other almost nothing. I don't really know why. Some works need hours of work and receive poor number of view and other made in the hurry have a certain success.
But, when you publish something, you shall admit critics ...or total absence of consideration. Β
ps: sorry for the late reply, I am a little bit busy IRL.

I have had several ask me why I didn't place them(photography) in a BENTBOX site???There are so many that cater to exactly what it was meant to be , semi porn, soft porn to be exact, which is fine, I have no issues with that what so ever but at least make the effort to spruce it up a hair. I partaked 1 time to see exactly what someone would be paying for, small investment of 8 dollars to get some insight, the graphics were small in scale or resolution, poor taste in ambient work and poor photography in that many out of focus and so on, and people would pay for this???...Anyway, I am working on some models this weekend while the storm comes through...I like the rendering of the female on the scooter, I keep going back to look at it as I cant say I have seen any render close toΒ its format or layout///

badenstern In reply to midage32065 [2017-10-09 20:26:33 +0000 UTC]
Ok.
To make this render, I used the iRay system of Daz. It needs to have a Nvidia graphic card with the "CUDA" driver (and a modern big Nvidia GC, mine is aΒ GTXΒ 780M). The background is uploaded directly in Daz. It's a HDRI background with light information in the metadata. I bought it on the Daz store (search for HDRI in light or in landscapes. Try those marked for Daz). A render in iRAy can take time, depending on the power of the GC (sometimes several hours if the scene is complicated, sometime only few minutes because the background is only a picture and not props). If you want to know ore about iRAy in Daz, you can find lot of tutorials and info in some forums (e.g. how to install the CUDA driver in your pc/mac and how to use the HDRI background). As I use an iMac, what is possible with iRay could be difficult even impossible for me.

Sorry for not replying sooner, I have had another one of those weeks working(Was retired 2 yrs) so doing this after 2yrs has its moments
as I am liable to tell anyone where they can kiss me...Anyway..Hows your day been?...I appreciate your input and direction you have wrote,
I like enough take the human form alittle further than the norm, as for me I am more into changing or adding or swapping just for the
sake of seeing what may come from it...My "miley" render I thought had some originality and it does favor her scrolled face minus her tongue
wagging around...Gimme a few evenings and I will have that do pat....I like experimenting and crossing the norm with little strange to down
right strange...I have built more objects in Poser than I can remember, so many I deleted from here as I didn't want to be known ONLY for
boobs and butts, I moved to photography and CS, tired and retired the DSLR, have returned to a new child in as 3D has grown up from
infant to full fledged teen and still growing...

I work on 3D for some years but I don't think I am really good as I would.Β
My iMac is the only one version with a Nvidia GC (late 2013), unfortunately it becomes old and 3D needs more and more power. So sometimes I feel tired to wait for hours when I want to do a render.
3d needs to be patient and I am not

Been there...I am using a Asus now 6-7yrs into it and I have 2 other 5th generation processing units, 1 I brought back to life to do DAZ3D stuff....And yes the clock ticks as far as rendering process time....

yep.
Iray is strange, sometimes a render can be very fast and other times it makes hours.Β

I had a render yesterday which took 2 hours and I redo today ....only 10 minutes. Absolutely no idea why. Perhaps my GC was tired of the weekend.

I tend to cludge when even a change in gradient...I want to know how to change and swap arms, legs, heads and so on...I have yet to figure out the element to applying store bought figure presets to use on a G3 or G8...

If you want to modify bodies in Daz, you'll need some morphs (there's morphs for face, body, breast, etc...). It's possible to modify bodies with the dimensions in the parameters tab, but morphs are sometimes better.
If you re-start totally with an empty library, perhaps it could be better to choose G8 and to search morphs for this character. G8 is the brand new character and for now, almost every new morphs, clothes, hair and skins will be be made only for it.
I use generally G3 and G2, sometimes the old Genesis. But the business model of Daz is to switch time to time to a brand new character and old morphs don't work with the new one.
Clothes and hair can work with different characters, but it's not always perfect and sometime absolutely shitty.
In my gallery, I posted one or two little tutos about how I work with Genesis and Genesis 2. It's almost the same for G3 and probably could work for G8 (I never used G8 myself)
if you want to have detailed genitalia, you shall buy THE bundle which has it. It's not possible to buy genitalia separately.Β
What you'll probably need will be some skins and hair. You must buy models for the skins and search for some hair.

Like so many I am a NEWBEE to Daz, have had it on the puter for some time now, I have always been a POSER user from Ver 4 to 2014, Ver 6 was where I excelled in many of my designs and I broke
away and got back into playing and creating music after 25yrs of not picking up a guitar(my ex destroyed all my equipment), after realizing my fingers don't fret it like I use to I swapped strings
for keybrd and went into MIDI and synthing it...I have again backed away from music and went back to doing photography and 3D...As I said before I deleted a lot of my gallery as I wanted to
Β be seen as creative and not because of boobs and butts, so its back to the learning curve in which I am self teaching myself on Daz...As for content I have so much content I am pulling from backups
from Renderosity and RDNA as I collected so much and would use from time to time...I am printing out what you have described so I am not having to be bouncing back and forth....
