Hum, quite easy to explain. You know, there is more light out there than we can see, so called infrared light. A camera can catch both visible and invisible light.
And so at Infrared Photography, we just block the visible light. Therefor, we get the "special" infrared effect =D (Big Grin) - =D

If you want to know more, i ll give you a tutorial which explains it quite well^^

Woooow... This is a very interesting topic. I suppose you are required to use special tools in order to block the visible light. A tutorial on what you need and how to post-process infrared photos: [link]

You dont need alot to start with infrared photography, a Hoya R72 IR-Filter (this is the most common one) and a camera that is ir-sensitive, you will see what i mean you read the articles!
Also, a tripod is essential not to blur you photos =D (Big Grin) - =D

So have fun with infrared photography, and dont forget to show me your results^^
