And I read one once where for some reason Nepeta lived in a mansion her parents gave her and killed Aradia with soda and poured bleach on her. It was pretty random.

Well, I don't feel that making fan characters is detrimental to the canonical characters. I just love making my own stuff, and the lore of Homestuck offers up a lot of interesting possibilities when you delve into it.

And yes, the Nepeta story was just bizarre and made me wonder if she knew anything at all about the lore. I'll check out those stories later.

Homestuck offers TOO much leeway... shit they characters are barely described.... its a cosplay and fan art free-for-all

Yeah, sure, it can be a lot of fun. That sounds cool; I can't play any musical instruments X3 But yeah that's the thing, to me, it's a way of entering the universe that I love but on my own terms, to have my own presence there, if that makes sense.

And i actually like the leeway. The rules are restrictive but give a lot of freedom too. But I think that's also a lot of the appeal of the story; people have a lot of room to put their own spin on a colorful character they enjoy. It's like how the kids are supposedly aracial.

You're right though, hussie definitely took the attitude of "you have to break your characters" to heart

I love Aradia for that though XD She's adorable but hilarious but creepy at the same time. There's this one Aradia I RP with that gets pretty goofy. And it's totally in character.

Oh it is, tho its a LOT of research and trial and error. Not everyone is a musician its ok . That is an AWESOME analogy... the reason anyone would play RPG's RolePlay Flarp or just get lost for a day in the city ( i dont do this as often as i used to)

Oh the leeway is the reason im gonna cosplay( if i dont go broke around cosplay month ) as probably a genderbent Meenah which is a rarer but looks like a hella fun cosplay (and im a Pisces so she would be my Zodiac Troll... i dont use patron troll since actually that in the story would make then Equius the real patrol when people think of their zodiac and homestuck) Funny since i could male the fastest Tavros?Ruffioh cosplay given that i already have a red mohawk but im not on a wheelchair ( change of outfit)

. The story has a lot of psychotic transcendence since it travels entire galaxies as opposed to just worlds. even the Canon and non-Canon trait of characters arent very far apart from one another. aracial is easy when they are related to one another (in the story ) and isnt Dave an albino or is that just a non-Canon representation of him...

Even to himself from being stuck in the attic with the stuffed wolf head to being rejected by Vriska who is dead and stuck with Tavros... to break the fourth wall more than once is a literary skill of high caliber

I blame the character development tho LOL cuz seeing what she went through and starting her dead in the story to back to life.... she has nothing to fear. but other when she pulls her creepy face she is an adorable character especially when she helps Sollux around.... and the most balanced if by a hair. Thats why she doesnt get written as much... Vriska on the other hand keeps her irons in the fire... LOL i should RP to a much more deeper depth and see what shenanigans i end up putting myself through

Yeah you're right, my forte is more worldbuilding and drawing. I know what you mean though...it's like when people wonder how I learned to draw or whatever. Practice, research, practice some more. If I ever need original music for some reason I'll have to find someone to do it But yeah, I used to do the same thing, just waste time fucking around and not doing actual missions in open world settings. Hell, I used to do that in MMOs too. I did it quite a bit in City of Heroes/Villains.

And that would be awesome, I haven't seen a boy Meenah before. XD MY zodiac is Karkat/Kranki. And you know how much I love Kranki. My girlfriend is Equius. But I think the Nitrams are challenging because of the giant horns and keeping them straight. Plus you don't have hair to cover the band on the sides, if you use that method (I'm not a cosplay expert so I don't know all the methods of horns). 

But yeah the story is really universe-transcending, it deals in multiverses. Which is part of why I find it so interesting; the lifecycle of a universe is important in my own original sci-fi so it is pretty fascinating for me, even if I don't plan to have giant space frogs. And what i forgot to say in my last post was that rules also lead to more creative solutions often times. I'm not sure if Dave is albino. I'm rereading Homestuck but I haven't gotten there yet. I honestly can't remember.

Yeah you're right, Aradia actually is fairly balanced and relatively down to earth for the trolls. I admit I also like her big fluffy hair. Then again the Aradia I RP with tends to play up the sheep parallels which canonical Aradia doesn't really do. But yeah, Vriska is definitely more unhinged. I'm really not sure why characters like her and Meenah seem to be incredibly popular; they seem to come off sometimes as poorly adjusted and outright incredibly bitchy a lot of times. But then again maybe people just like the escapism of a character free from social norms, and I'm not saying they're bad characters. They've both undergone a lot of character development and it's interesting to see.

World-building? like The Tycoon Games and the like? Yeah you gotta suck for a LONG time before you get any good. Research is a life saver i find. I somehow dont have that much of a hard time making music... i"ve managed to make music of the dumbest noises. I get getting lost inside one's head or a videogame can be a good release of the mind. Ironically i have completely lost interest in videogames.... ( not my thing but its ok)

I've seen a few its a rare rare cosplay and i felt i should give it a try after that spear i half designed goofed into paper... since there seems to be a plethora of girls crossplaying as Daves and Karkats anyways. But i cant get my eyebrows pierced b/c of work which is weird cuz i have 5 ear piercings and a red mohawk AT work.... and i have bushy eyebrows .... i am not gonna start doing my eyebrows like a girl... that would be too much for me LOL and it would show
Yeah i seen a few glue them on temporarily but they' have to be pretty small with some makeup magic or go broke with the little strap thing they make for cat ears.

It makes a sense of scale that only sci fi seemes to managed. Although he has too many literary devices to limit it to JUST science fiction. Even if its a good third of the story. Frogs.... and the Salamanders and Naks and the turtles as well. I see dave described or cosplay and drawn as one since he is a blonde with red eyes... thats just a theory or a Humanstuck Karkat being an Albino as well.

To keep the story so strong with both self exposition AND fourth wall shenanigans.... i can only say that the music he get for HS is AMAZING. Cascade still blows my mind when i watch it... and i've had it on repeat for MONTHS

Well with characters stable ones are very boring to write about... even Aradia is well adjusted after hitting god tier and to some extent so are Nepeta and Feferi (weird since some people think of Nepeta as autistic) Sheep Aradia? well a Ram and Ewe IS the symbol of Aries so its not a big leap but its like Wolves and Dogs genetically identical but different animals in many respects.

Vriska's struggles with both herself and the "universe" and how she is a force EVEN when she's dead make her such a captivating character... she is a fighter highly flawed not really an antihero but not a villian either. Shit she is one of the inspirations for Marceline the Vampire Queen who i feel has the Terezi touch since she eats red things. If a character is strong enough to affect other shows or "literature" that says something about her character. And there many strong characters in HS ussually the more flawed ones are more captivating and more moving in the process of the story. If you met Vriska Serket in real life you'd HATE her... great story characters are usually awful people in real life.(i.e. Sherlock Holmes...great literary character AWFUL person) In contrast someone like Porrim Maryam who isnt that maladjusted would be a joy to meet or even Feferi, Tavros, Aranea (when she didnt snap n go huge ultra bitch mode) by contrast to Vriska. Meenah is a megalomanical sociopath so that woudnt be a person to look forward to meeting... storywise she is a strongheaded fearless character who literaly doesnt take shit from no one. Funny when they are together in that scence where Meenah braids Vriska's hair they seem to cancel each out nicely in what was a moment of intimacy and confidence.... CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT up the rear. A funny thing since Scorpio and Pisces a mutual water signs ...sneaky thing that they did thar...

No, by worldbuilding I mean putting together the universe and back story that serve as the setting for the main story. What are you talking about you make music out of noises? You just record yourself making noises and play it on a keyboard? XD I'm sure not, but that would be funny though.

I'd imagine it's rare. I never been to a con or anything, I'd like to once I'm in better shape. But you can't pierce your eyebrow with the other stuff? Kind of random.

I don't really feel Homestuck has a genre that fits it. The closest thing I can think of would be science-fantasy. To me it's...Homestuck. And yeah a lot of people have Dave being an albino in their headcanon. I never thought a lot about it, honestly. Though really I believe I read somewhere that the kids are supposed to be aracial in their depictions. So it's just left for you to decide.

I think the only reason people think Nepeta is autistic is becauce Karkat called her that once. And obviously, Karkat's insults should be taken as hard facts and not just him being his usual asshole self. And yes, I think she just wanted to be a cutesy troll girl. Even though she got too freaky for that, not that I mind that.

You're right in that Vriska is very complex...and you know, my girlfriend keeps telling me to watch Adventure Time and I never do. But now I'm curious, time to go find a place ot watch it.

Vriska actually makes me worry that my own characters aren't flawed or complicated enough...that and honestly I'm not great at writing assholes. I know I'm going to have some, but I haven't made them yet. Granted my characters are flawed, just... it's hard to hold them up to those so well established x3

Actually it's funny because I'm sure I'd hate Vriska, but I have this weird tendency to get along with bitchy girls. Then again Jaye's also met Vriska in RP in this one room I play in so there's that.

I did like the whole Meenah <> Vriska thing. IT was cute x3 And yes, character development, and it made a lot of sense. Though I'm always curious about why Vriska is spider and not scorpion themed, scorpions are way cooler than spiders. I've never heard of a spider rocking someone like a hurricane.
