I got it from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I can't remember now what scene it is, or even in what context it is used.(..Drugs of course) But it stuck with me

lol It's when they are coming back to the hotel from their heavy mescalin trip at the oscillating circus circus bar with the .. and they are afraid to go in the elevator.. and duke says " This is not a good town for psychedelic drugs... ----- Extremely menacing vibrations were all around us." Great story. Hunter S. Thompson does such a good job at making the plot so hazy..
