Hm, good question. I'd say, "It just does," because it's really hard to explain, but... well, when I was just a kid starting to eat solid food, my parents brought me to the Greek festival at the orthodox church downtown, fed me a little of it, and I ate an entire adult plate. Since I had the taste for that kind of food, they started bringing me to this restaurant... I ended up getting quasi-adopted by a Greek family (my mother taught their son piano), and over time, I just fell in love with it. The culture, the food, the people... I finally got to go there for my high school graduation / birthday present. Got mistaken for a local pretty often, and it just made me so happy I could've burst. That kind of confusion happens a lot, actually, and people are surprised when I tell them I don't have a drop of Greek blood in me. When I had to leave there at the end of a week... god, I cried so much. It's like I've never felt real, felt whole, anywhere but there. The air is perfect and the mountains are like big sleeping giants with blankets of grass and olive trees and it's just wonderful there. Except for the traffic. The traffic is... scary. No lanes, everyone driving at top speed and yelling at each other, and it's half cars, half motorcycles. I feared for my life. Funny thing is, even though I'm female and they're pretty patrilineal there, I'd even be a good Greek wife. I love to cook, I find older men attractive, and I'm almost over-attentive to my (young and skinny) fiancΓ©. Anyhow. There's your answer. In a really long comment.

Well, I've just started this up. Needed something better than a geocities gallery, after all, and why not? I might actually be able to get some comments on my craptastic drawings. Yay! Time to upload... stuff. And learn how to navigate this site. Here we go.
