My screen name is Mathy, though some people call me a shortened form of my real name, Aggie.Born in Chicago, USA, currently living in Warsaw, Poland. I'm not quite sure what I want to do in the future, but I'd like it to be somehow involved with writing or photgraphy. I enjoy deathcore and classic rock/metal music. I'm a strong band and concert enthusiast. My favorite band is Bring Me The Horizon.
For about a year I have been making forum signatures on the AeriaGames website. I do it for fun and for free, but I put my watermark on most of my work. I also enjoy photography . My favorite program for making digital art is Photoshop (I have CS2), but I used to use GIMP.
I use a Canon EOS 1100d with a 18/55mm kit lens.

A few months ago you gave me permission to do a drawing from one of your wonderful photos. I finished it. As you see, I made some changes to the surroundings in order to play up it's sense of separateness. I hope you like it. :thumb364303773:

Thank you. I'm so glad you like the results. It was easy to be inspired by it, and I'm not the only one that likes it. My friends here who have seen your photo comment on what a fantastic picture it is and how interesting the house is. Can you tell me anything about the house and the location?

Well, I don't know much about the house. All I heard from the locals was that the old lady that used to live in it passed away 2 summers ago. She didn't have any family, so her body was found after quite a while... She also had a lot of cats that disappeared after her death.
The house is in the small village Garbatka Letnisko, just Garbatka in short, near Kozienice in Central/East Poland. It used to be a popular tourist attraction, I heard it was some sort of a shelter for soldiers during WWII. Letnisko in Poland means "summer resort". The most popular place in Garbatka is Polanka, which roughly translates to "little field". There's a small bar there, and a huge lake which people used to swim in, and some sand dunes. But all that has died away in the past few years. The bar remains closed, the water in the lake is green and murky and unsafe to swim in, the forests have grown so much that it's nearly impossible to walk around in them. No berries or mushrooms grew last year.
Near Polanka is an old mini railway track, that was used during WWI and WWII to transport coal, but supposedly soldiers sat in the wagons on top of the coal as well.
There are a lot of other houses like the one on the photo in Garbatka, you just have to know where to look.

How interesting to learn that much about the house and town. It is sad that it is not what it was, but I guess that happens to many towns eventually with the passage of much time. It sounds like it would be a place to find many interesting photographs, of wild new growth from the forest to older houses of interesting form and condition. You make me yearn to see it myself.
