Hmm, Alois's personality is rather twisted in a way. There are a lot of things you can explore, depending on what sort of mood you want to convey. It's very easy to portray his playful optimism by drawing him frolicking around or messing with Claude, but something like that would evoke more of a simple "oh, that's cute" or "haha, that's so funny" type of response.
For a more serious image, I would consider exploring the darker side of his personality, his past, or his desperate desire to be cared for. The spider, cobweb, butterfly, etc. motif has been used a lot, but they are very easily recognized by fans, so if you want, you can incoporate that into the picture as well. Flowers, blood, chess pieces, etc. are some other common elements associated with Alois.
I think what would really set your artwork apart from the other fanart would be to have a deeper meaning in your picture and portray the character in such a way that it would prompt some sort of emotional response from the fans. It would also depend on what you want to show him as: a child out for revenge, a desperate person longing for affection, a sadistic master, a boy trapped in a demon's game...the possibilities are endless.
Sorry for all the writing, but I hope this helped. Generally people like a well-thought out, meaningful picture over a standard pin-up. In the end, it's up to you what you want to draw. I would love to see your picture when you're done though. Good luck, and most of all, have fun drawing!
