So, I saw your drawing of Chester, and did this whole long comment. Then you deleted it. So, here you go.
It doesn't suck at all! All you need are a few pointers. For a rough sketch, this is actually pretty good. You got the facial features down well, I think. However, if you were going to spend more time on it, you would need to shade it. One of the most important parts of shading is the mouth. Especially on men, you don't want to use any lines near the mouth, but make it ALL shading. So, I would shade under the bottom lip, make a darker color on the bottom lip itself, darkest near where the two lips meet, and then shade his upper lip up. The mouth actually shouldn't really have any outlines.
Random point here: In realism, there are almost NO black lines. You want to do it ALL by shading.
Another crucial place for shading is under the eyebrows, because it gives the face depth. Aside from those, you should apply it to under the jawline, under the nose ( and often to the side, to help make it more 3d), And a tiny bit under the cheekbones.
The eyes actually are pretty good. I don't know if I would make the irises that big, though. And you have to remember that even guys have eyelashes, they're just not always as visible.
One last thing: the hair. I'd say that the hair just might be the hardest part of a realistic drawing. There are really only two things that you really have to focus on, though, when drawing it. Remember: the hair has volume, You don't want to draw it super-close to the skull. You have to let it have some room of it's own. Let it grow out from the head. Then, there's shading and piecing (which I still can't seem to get right). Try not to draw individual strands so much as pieces or clumps of hair. It not only makes it look more realistic, but it's easier, too. Also, you have to put some highlights and low-lights in the hair to give it depth, or else it just looks likes a helmet. Which, granted, is sometimes the effect one wants. But yeah.
I know I just typed a crapload of stuff, and you're probably thinking, "Who the heck is this, and why is he telling me how to draw?" Please don't be offended, I actually think this is pretty good. I'm just telling you some things that might help. You're doing really well!
I think it was pretty good, really.
