Done gap-year halfway through A-levels, explained what happened to Art School in journal, starting finishing A-Levels in Sept.

No, sadly not, well not this year. At my interview the helpful dude said that I would just get bored doing the 2 yr foundation, but because I'm not 18 and don't have A2 art, I can't do the 1yr foundation course even though I'm up to it artistically, so I'm going to finish my A Levels, even if I don't give a crap about academia, so I can do the 1yr foundation course the year after this. It's a delay, but hopefully a worth-while one, as even though this year out has been fascinating, I still see it as dead time.
Where are you doing your art foundation course? I bet it's somewhere really amazing like St Martins or the Slade or somewhere else amazing. You can e-mail me if you don't want to post on the WWW.

About my own art foundation, well I screwed the application, for various reasons, I was going to apply to St Martins. But im going to UWE (west of England) which is just about close enough to call local. Im thinking about St Martins for next year, though I have to say, at the moment nothing appeals to me about recognised artschools. It won't change the standard of your work, that just depends on you I guess. Well I guess you get inspired by the ppl you work with. I'll probably change my opinion after this foundation year.

Hey sorry to butt in .....but I graduated from St Martins last year and it was fucking tough - but wicked. Because of the college's reputation you get pushed very hard, but the recognition and contacts you have after graduation is worth it. The college is not better because of it's reputation or facilities - it's just got a lot of super detirmined and competitive students which makes you push your work further. Good luck!!
