Looking at our shared heritage, I wanted to ask you a little something of our tradition. Have you ever played a game called hwathu?

Godori? I have the cards, never learned how to play that well. (Honest rather than deceptive answer). Hwatu would be the cards, Godori is the game if I'm not mistaken. You can get the cards for cheap.

I would much like to do so, but they are unfortunately banned in the homelands, though it was actually because a certain kind of flower is in the deck. I personally think that it would be a little easier if the flowers in question could be replaced with azaleas in this month's slot. I actually have considered art on such a card set of it including azaleas to replace the cherry blossoms (the workers' offending flower kind). I have heard before that cherry blossoms appear in our shared culture as well, but I'm not quite sure what to make of it.

I bought mine from a Korean market locally years ago. Amazon.com also has a set for about 5 dollars. If you're really dedicated, you'll go to Korea and ask around for Hwatu... They still play godori.

If you would like to see, I actually did just start on the efforts on a version of the game. I am not particularly pleased on how it came out now, but it should do as the prototype to come soon. I hope to release a smoother version for an upcoming deck with the other details intact. I have the card month uploaded on gallery today.

Glad to find you again. Back in Sept I was reading your blog and did not notice that you had 'moved'. This looks like great work that you are doing and I will try to figure out a link or trackback when I use some of your DiviantArt on my web blog. If you have a suggestion just let me know as I am still learning how to blog on Blogger (for old guy adoptees).
You writing is fresh and represents many in "This Thing of Ours-Adoption". I will link to [link] on my blog list. Would you look over my story (on Labels) and profile. I would love to ask you to Guest Post on [link] to give all viewpoints on the issues of adoption. Looking forward to reading about your trip.

I had to move since people were reading the story backwards and also thinking the story was happening in real time. Even the entries where I wrote that I was 5 years old... people still thought it was in real time. That really didn't help my cause... So I moved. The DA account is easier since I was posting a memoir anyhow and I can shuffle the entries as as please without leaving people disgruntled too much.
I was kind of surprised to find that I was the only one on DA that was writing about International adoption... I find it odd. I would have aimed to publish, but I don't think my parents would appreciate it... especially my often unreliable mom, who, while I tried my best to give an even hand to, doesn't come off well...
But the point for me, is to communicate my story and do something that people don't usually do--that's to explain adoption to the general public. Answer the cosmic "What is it like?" even if it's from one perspective. Most memoirs about adoptees are for other adoptees with adoptive parents in the rear view mirror... I want to be more expansive. Also use raw honesty about the things I did right and wrong without the judgment so much of the events. Just present as is and leave the reader to form opinions.
BTW, Wordpress is better than Blogger. I just used Blogger because I knew I could strip the template down to work inside of a webpage. But that was before Wordpress existed and I was being lazy. When you hit that ceiling consider switching.
