I'm in sequential art. I have one piece hanging up in the Norris Hall, but the colors are pretty messed up in the print-- if I had known they were going to hang that piece up, I'd have made sure the file was CMYK, haha.

How cool! I'm also a sequential art major. XD I may or may not of seen your art somewhere in Norris, but I'll keep an eye out for it next quarter. Are you apart of any clubs? I'm sort of apart of the comic phone book club and sequential art society....I say sort of cause I've actually only gone to one meeting, Hahaha.

I was supposed to be involved with SAS and the Comic Phonebook (they officially changed the name I guess?), but now that I live off-campus, it's hard to attend meetings. I still don't know when/where the Phonebook meets. It used to be in the Student Center at 8 on Tuesdays... but now I've got no idea.

Same here. I live an hour away, so attending meetings is a little difficult. I also don't know where the club usually meet up so I can't help you there. I do want to make a comic submission for their next book though. Do you plan on submitting anything?

It used to be the mascot, unless they changed it or dropped it by now. I got a huge EVA feel from trying to draw for it, haha. Ended up lacking too much confidence to submit, though.
Yeah, I am. Not necessarily the niche market that it is, but in general, I'd like to illustrate sequential art within my style range, be it self-publishing, going through a company here or overseas!

I respect that. I came into the school wanting to do manga, but now I'm leaning towards visual development or layout design. I haven't given up on manga yet, but I do need to explore my options since the manga industry in America isn't looking so hot. I know mangamagazine.net is a pretty decent site for manga webcomics though. It's worth taking a look at if you haven't already.

Since we're on the subject, what's you're top three mangas? I'd have to say Yostsuba, bakuman, and from far away.

Yeah, I doubt there's much of a way to do creator-owned manga within the United States, outside of self-publishing.

I do like Bakuman a lot, but I hate the mindset it gave a lot of the readers. It created this awkward group of kids who want to break into manga and will do anything to achieve it, with no idea how the world really works. It's silly. I love it though!
I'm a big fan of Masakazu Katsura's work, and Zetman is one of my all-time favorites (a great clash of genres, too). I also love I"s. But I'd say my favorite three are Zetman, Death Note (of course), and Bakuman. There's so much more than that of course, it's hard to narrow down to just three titles and it certainly makes me seem like part of that hivemind, haha.
