I love your gallery, it is neat to see your progress in your sculptures, and I hope some day I am half as good as you! I especially love the African wild dogs, they are what brought me to your gallery

I use aluminium wire in my sculptures - just because it's what I could get hold of. don't bend it around too much or it snaps.

no, I had to order it from the US. I first found out about it from a site in Australia, but by the time I went to order it they had stopped stocking it - I don't know of anywhere in Australia that currently stocks it sorry.

i make sculptures out of different types of materials - most of them say what they're made from in the descriptions.
Mostly I use polymer clay - different brands have different temperatures - but they all say what to do on the packaging.
I use artists/craft acrylic paint.
Sometimes I use an armature - if you google it there will be lots of tutorials on how to make them.
the best way to learn is just to try stuff out and do experiments to see what works well for you - and there are lots of polymer clay tutorials out there that will help too,
good luck!

Hello there!
I really love your figures! They are so realistic and original! You are veeery talented! I wish I had as much talent as you have :] my hands are really crappy but anyway, are you using clay and then you'll colour it by acliric colors?

kaasha In reply to SwiftShepherd [2009-06-01 03:52:51 +0000 UTC]
some are just coloured polymer clay - others are polymer clay painted with water based acrylic paints.

Hi fellow croweater great sculpts and congrats on the DD. May I ask where you get your materials in this one horse town?

kaasha In reply to cybernetichero [2009-05-15 12:38:42 +0000 UTC]
do you mean Adelaide?
Usually paints, fabric fur and small amounts of polymer clay from spotlight and lincraft. Some other clay and moulding/casting stuff from Adelaide moulding and casting supplies. wool for felting from Walking Wheel. some other clay online from [link] and ebay. drawing and paint materials from spotlight/lincraft and stores like big w/target/newsagents.
thats all I can think of for the moment - if it was ant specific material you were looking for - just ask and ill try to remember where it came from or might have an idea of what places might sell other things too.

I know most of those, I was hoping you knew of some as yet unknown treasure trove althought Adelaide Moulding and Casting Supplies is a fair trove in itself Thanks for the link though. I haven't been there.
