50th issue of FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC comic was cool with Discord taking Celestia on her birthday and giving her a day off by making her a normal pony pegasus for the day/

pick up the wonderbolt theme issue of IDW COMICS MY LITTLE PONY FRIENDS FOREVER ISSUE 36 and Rainbow referred to as Rainbow Crash in the issue just like in episode NEWBIE DASH.

think the design in UNDER THE SPARKLING SEA book and IDW comics are better sea pony designs that the image I saw when watching a comic con video which had a report on movie.

while I am not a fan of books written in a diary style format I did like WONDERCOLTS FOREVER plot of the first friendship games between CHS and Crystal Prep back when Celestia and Luna were students.

the latest storyline in FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC comics deals with Discord becoming a Lord of Order instead of Chaos and tries to bring order to all Equestria against the ponies will.

I mention some of the comics plots in my journal. was a little disappointed that the MY LITTLE PONY new year marathon had a pinkie count down clock but did not have pinkie fire her party cannon when the countdown reached zero.

Jan 2017 mark the 50th issue of FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC comics.
Trade #3 of MY LITTLE PONY comics has a nice background pony cover on it. Has some good stories like one staring Big Mac needing nails to fix up the farm but ponyville having their summer wrap up festival where background ponies are doing stuff. Trixie performing, Diamond Tiara is running an advice booth, Sappire Shores performing and other back grounds back tents set up and moving about the festival.
Trying to figure if it was 2014 comic that first introduce the game of Obuliettes and Ogers that Spike, Big Mac and Discord played in season season 6 or not.

got some friendship is magic comic covers on the profile page and in my gallery. sometimes the ponies look as good as they do on the show other they have a more chibi look to them depending on which artist drawing the comic.

Oh yes, I have heard that the comics take a big part in the show as well, making it canon. May I ask, but is there background ponies that are also canon? Like, they have a big part in the comics?

like the show most of the stories are on Mane six but we do have stories here and there with background ponies. They also did a great story about how Shinning Armor and Princess Cadence dated back at Canterlot Academy ( pony world version of Canterlot High.)

there was also a special comic book trade done dealing with origins of the friendship is magic villans.
had the story of Star swirl the bearded vs the sirens
the origin of Queen of the changelings
the origin of Sombra when he was a little stallion about applebloom age and why he grew up way he did. had a later story in comics about Sombra become good.

beside the regular books IDW COMICS have do some great MY LITTLE PONY stories in comic book form. to name just a couple good storylines in comics
one story have a sailor pony that looks like Disney Jack Sparrow getting Twilight and friends to re-unite him with his mer pony lover
we recently had a multi issue storyline in the comics where a magical pool the mane six fell into turn them evil and they started taking over Equestria.
I like the story when Princess Luna goes with Pinkie Pie comedy boot camp to surprise Celestia.
there was some special comics stories like the one telling how and why Sunset left her studies with Princess Celestia and become human in canterlot high. the story also has a 2nd comic story where Sunset going to have her first Christmas with her Canterlot High friends and problems the cutie mark crusders or whatever you call them in human world cause her.
there even a comic story about the real Power Ponies rather than Twilight and friends pretending to be power ponies the way there had in the TV show.

the latest Princess collection book TWILIGHT AND THE FORGOTTEN BOOKS OF AUTUMN reminds me a lot the original CRYSTAL EMPIRE episode of the series as both the episode and the book deals with a place under a curse that been forgotten by rest of Equestria that Twilight tries to help.
