Hi Jimmy,
I really like your style. I am organising this drawing event for people from the uk to travel to majorca and draw the city in a kind of city break/sketching adventure. We are just in promotion stage and I was wondering if you would allow us to use one of your sketches (theres one of a church where you were married) to put into the flyer or website to inspire people and show a good example of an urban sketch. We would love to show your work on our page, fully credited ofcourse. You can have a look at our website to see what we are trying to do www.drawingthecity.net . Feel free to get in touch at hello@drawingthecity.net , or follow us on Twitter drawing _thecity. My name is Michael. Keep up the good work.

Michael, I am so sorry I missed your message earlier this year. Please feel free to use any of the sketches within my gallery for your website. I haven't spent much time on m deviant page this year due to work commitments and my wife giving birth to our first baby. The course sounds really interesting and something I would love to do if I had the money and time

Hi there ^.^
I just been through some of your sketches, one in particular caught my eye ;[link]
I was wondering, do you think you can do a tutorial on character position? By that, I mean that the viewer is looking down upon a character, much like the one in your picture. I know it's too much to ask, but if you have the time, just message me, even if you can't do the tutorial.
Thanks,
-Mimph

Thanks a lot man, your gallery is awesome too. I remember seeing your Bounty Hunter stuff a while back and being really impressed with it. I think I saw it on digital webbing or penciljack.
I really appreciate you posting

Hello Jimmy. Been a long time. This is Saul. I did some colouring for you some years ago. Funny, I gave up colouring comics about 4 yrs ago. I now am only working on my own works (doing digital painting using Painter IX and old fashioned oil painting). Anywho, I left you a comment under your "Shang-Chi" drawing. Hope to here from you soon. Best, Saul.

Hey man. Love your comic Hellblazer along with all the sketches ive seen from you. I'd like to start a comic myself, but i need to ask a few questions before i go balls out and make the thing! What program do you use and is it compatible with Mac? Also I wonder if you sketch it out on paper first or if you go from brainpower first time. And lastly how do you get your stuff noticed when the boards are filled with nothing but Naruto and peoplecat abomination things and cosplay? Thanks man. Much appreciated.

Hey Jud, I think you've posted on the profile. You need to go and post on seangordonmurphy's wall if you're referring to his awesome work on Hellblazer. I just faved those images.
As for programmes. I believe Seans work is mostly 100% traditional. Draws in pencils then inks it with brushes. His work is awesome.

At the moment I am working on "The Phantom: Unmasked" for moonstone books but it won't be out for a little while.
I have a comic called "OPSEC" up over at Zudacomics.com this month. Voting ends this week, so feel free to pop over and give me your vote.
Last year I did a short story in "Negative Burn" #16 with Doug Wagner (writer of the awesome "Guncandy" series at image).
Back in 2007 I did a graphic novel published by DBPro/Marvel called "Half Dead" that you can still find online at places like Amazon or order it through your local comic store. There are still some in the diamond warehouse.
They'll hopefully be a bunch more comic work out from me in 2010 onwards. Thanks for posting

So you're a legit comic maker? DUDE! WOAH.
Im a comic enthusiast who just graduated high school, but man, id love to start working for cartoon network, or maybe a comic company like dark horse or marvel. So how do i do it? Im gonna major in art at a local college but where do i go from there? Atlanta is only a few hours drive from where I am.

jimmybott In reply to Trickycat21 [2009-06-08 05:40:24 +0000 UTC]
How do you do it? Produce a quality portfolio of work, go to conventions and go through portfolio reviews with the editors, network both at the con and in the bar in the evengings and get to know people that could give you work. Build a resume of published work, which means starting out either self publishing or working with small indy publishers for next to nothing or even free in some cases. There's a lot of rejection involved. But the more work you do the more you'll improve and hopefully those contacts you made networking will finally start paying off. Least that's the way I've done it so far .
You're also pretty lucky if you're near Atlanta there are a number of studios and professionals working in the Atlanta area. They have regular get togethers and it's well worth getting to know those guys and learning from their wealth of experience. The ones I can remember off the top of my head are Desperado Comics, Gaijin Studios (Jason Pearson, Brian Stelfreeze, Cully Hamner, Doug Wagner, Tony Shasteen, etc), Tom Feister and David Atchison. There are some animation studios in Atlanta too.
It's good to find someone willing to help you. For a number of years Scott McDaniel critiqued my work via email which really helped me to improve quicker. One of the quickest ways to improve is to find someone who knows the what you're doing wrong and for them to tell you how they put it right in their own work.
Best of luck

Hi Jimmy - just wanted to say it was nice meeting you in BICS this weekend. I was the guy stood with Amy (Batgirl) and Ryan (Captain America) and who bought the last copy of Half Dead but forgot to get you to sign it...
Thought I'd pop over and show some appreciation for your work. And welcome to the GS forums! Hope to see you there more often.
