Lots of practice, lots of studying, been drawing since i was 4, I always encourage people to study the basics like anatomy, figure drawing, realism, painting, things like that, because all art can be applied within comic art, that and it helps you see and improve.

I got a lot of Christopher Hart's books, including FREAKS! and Crime noir. Thing is, I never really used them--too afraid my stuff would suck. Maybe it's because i'm not coming up with any ideas before-hand. What do you think?

I say stay away from Christopher Hart, I can't believe anyone LETS him publish an art book because he doesn't teach, he tells you what to do in his style. Beginning books that are good are figure drawing and anatomy books.

Inspiration ideas: music, movies, magazines, things like that. Day to day stuff too, draw what you see, just doodle, that's usually when you get your best ideas.
