Bleakshade wandered out of camp and slowly padded towards the lake, eyes fixed firmly on the forest floor. Her paws brushed away leaves from the few oak trees that had let their leaves fall so far in the growing cooler weather. When she got to the lake she took a few laps from the cool water, and took a few deep breaths. Hawkstorm would be there any minute and Bleakshades heart was pounding. She began pacing the outskirts of the lake. Maybe I should just go back... He wouldn't mind! ...Would he? Bleakshade turned back to face the gently rippling water and studied her reflection closely. She saw her fur ruffling gently in the breeze and her eyes were pierced with anxiety. Play it cool, Bleakshade, she thought, trying to soften her expression. As she tried, her face became strange and distorted. With a growl, she swatted the water, splashing it against the mud before sitting and lapping her paw clean.

Paws thundered forward, and in seconds the brown field mouse's life came to a close. The large white and grey tom thanked starclan for the food as always, and padded along. He uncovered another mouse he'd caught earlier. The tom was hungry, having helped the clan in it's last efforts to tidy up for the upcoming leaf-bare, and having been on a long hunting patrol earlier with nothing to eat surely didn't help! But afterall - the clan came first.

Hawkstorm bounded through the fields and pine trees. He was late meeting Bleakshade, he'd never been late before. She must be worried even if he wasn't that late. He just couldn't resist picking them up some food before hand..

The warrior slowed his pace when he saw the brown tabby she-cat near the water, she was beautiful. As always. He padded up casually, sitting the prey down at her paws, "Hello, Bleakshade." he mewed, sitting next to her. He noticed she was... more antsy than usual.

Bleakshades ears flicked and she turned to face Hawkstorm. Her face softened and a purr escaped her as she padded up and nuzzled his chest. Still tall as ever, the she-cat thought to herself with an inward chuckle. "Hello, Hawkstorm," she greeted in return, then noticing the prey he had in his jaws. "Nice catch," she beamed. She padded close to the shore again and lapped up a little more water before sitting down and glanced at her mate. "It's been getting cold lately," she mewed gently. "I hope the clan has a good year..."

Hawkstorm purred back at his mates nuzzle. The tom also took a drink, thirsty from all his running around. He took a bit out of his prey, offering the other mouse to her.

"Yes, me too." He looked up at the trees. A small gust of wind blew through their branches and leaves flew with the wind, landing in front of the cats.

Bleakshade glanced down at the prey and leaves before her and saw their variation of size and shape. It reminded her of the clan. She smiled to herself as she saw a small leaf and larger leaf side by side with one another. That would be Hawkstorm and I, she thought blissfully. Bleakshade had always been a small cat, but she supposed she made up for it in speed, if anything else. Her ears twitched back when she looked back up at Hawkstorm who was happily munching away at a mouse. "The nursery seems to be getting full of queens," the she-cat mewed softly, avoiding eye contact with her mate and starring into the rippling water. Her heart began pounding and her stomach churned, but despite that, she did her best to nibble at her mouse.

Hawkstorm finished his mouse quickly in hunger and purred, taking a seat right next to her, their fur barley touching. He looked over at her and nodded, "Yes, Firelight and Ripplestream had their litter a few days ago. Have you seen them yet?" Hawkstorm was oblivious. He loved kits though and was dillighted at the conversation.

Hawkstorm looked over at her. Bleakshade seemed flustered. He lapped at the top of her head... hoping she was alright.

"I have yet to visit their kits," she admitted softly, "but I am hoping to see them later this evening." Bleakshade sighed and nuzzled into Hawkstorms chest as he lapped at her head in a rhythmic motion. "Hawkstorm, have you ever thought about what life would be like if you ever had kits?" Bleakshade muttered half to herself. "I mean, have you ever wondered if you'd be a good parent, or if they wouldn't like you, or..?" Bleakshades voice trailed off and she sighed once more. "How different do you think life would be?"

Hawkstorm tilted his head, "Well... I think they'd like me. All the other kits in the clan like me so... I don't see why not." He spoke softly. "And... they'd have to be just a little like me since I'm their dad." He said proudly puffing out his chest a bit.

She slowly backed away from Hawkstorm and looked him in the eyes warily but with a softness to her crystal eyes. "What if you got the chance to be a dad? Would you take it? Even if it was today?"

Bleakshades ears fell flat against her head and she began sobbing with relief. Her stress was released and she felt a million times better having keeping the news hidden for a number of days. She nuzzled Hawkstorms chest and laughed softly, "You're getting that chance!" Bleakshade smiled, sniffling a little. "You're going to be a dad!" Bleakshade chuckled in disbelief, "And I'm going to be a mom..."

"Maybe they'll look like you or me," she suggested. "Maybe nothing like us... I wonder if they'll look like our parents?"

"I can't wait for everyone to know~ I bet they'll be so surprised!" He laid next to her happily. He was still in a happy sort of shock. He was going to be a parent...? He'll have little kits of his own? The warrior hoped he'd be a good father to them... "Maybe. I barley remember my mother or father's looks. All I remember is her scent and she had dark, long fur." He mewed. Hawkstorm was lucking Lightningclan had taken him in and raised him when his mother left him and his now gone siblings for whatever reason.

Bleakshade purred softly as small snow flakes began falling. She looked up and sighed. Winter was arriving, and it was arriving fast. In the back of her mind, she was filled with concern. "Do you... do you think it will hurt?" she murmured flatly. She figured it would, but Bleakshade felt Hawkstorms input was necessary and valid. She felt it would somehow soothe her to a certain extent. She wondered how many here would be, what they'd look like, and if they'd get along well. With a final sigh, Bleakshade laid her head down and nuzzled her mate affectionately. "I love you Hawkstorm..."

Hawkstorm watched the snowflakes begin to fall. "Well... even if it does hurt, Starclan will guide you. Our medicine cat is a great tom, he knows a lot. He won't let you down. And I'll be there to hold your paw." He purred. Hawkstorm was still in awe and shock that he was going to be a father! This would be his family's first fully clanborn generation. "I'm sure they will come out beautiful and strong kits."

Hawkstorm stood after her and gave a big shake, snow flakes flying off of his white and grey fur. The tom sniffed the air, "Well I did catch some extra I was going to bring back to camp... left it under a bush on the way back to camp." The tom padded forward and found the pile - a bird and two mice. "Freshkill is already starting to get scarce." he stuffed the mice and bird in his mouth.

Bleakshade sighed and glanced down at the meals. "It's better than nothing though," she mewed hopefully. "It'll keep the clan full tonight." As Bleakshade padded behind her mate, she looked back to the cool lake and swished her tail. "At least I hope it will..." She entered the camp and it was rather quiet. The elders gathered in the den and were telling stories to the apprentices and few warriors were in camp. "I guess we're doing a final stock up on supplies," the she-cat mumbled to Hawkstorm, concern edging her tone.

Hawkstorm laid down his catches in the freshkill pile. Suddenly it dawned on him. He was the only one who knew about their kits! Everyone else was clueless right now... Hawkstorm beamed. He hoped his clan - his family - would be excited as he was. He looked to Littlestar, talking to two senior warriors. The tom looked to Bleakshade. Eventually, his mate would have to move to the nursery...! All these little things suddenly dawned on him.

Bleakshade leapt onto her mate after a long day of helping around the camp. She chuckled as she playfully chomped his ear, purring loudly. "Are you excited? I'm so excited!" The she-cat chirped like a bird, expressing her anxiousness towards a number of things, those including Newleaf, the gathering and the pairs coming kits. "I just... GAH" she flopped onto the cool, dusty, but dry dirt in the warriors den and lay on her side purring. "I just can't believe it," she murmured in awe.

"I know. Heh. Our clan mates will be thrilled i'm sure, when they find out." the big tom laid down, enjoying her company. even though he was always around her, he could never get tired of Bleakshade. He suddenly remembered when they first went on a patrol together... and she fell down that tree.. what an odd way to start a great relationship.

Bleakshade sat up in a flury of emotions. "I must go tell Ripple and Firelight!" She lapped her mates ear before bouncing out of the den like a kit exploring the clearing for their first time. She swerved through a few cats and plodded towards the nursery, a grin plastered on her face.
