Eye understand, anime eyes and realist eyes don't tend to mesh well. Maybe try simplifying your eyes first and then adding small details?

Eye shapes really vary depending on what you're going for, but since you stick to chibi-styled art, it's a bit more challenging. Maybe smaller eyes with pointier shapes and experimentation with eyelashes and area around the eyes?
