There's some Deviantart users that still care for traditional art, you just kind of have to look for them yourself. Heck, there's even some groups dedicated to traditional realism alone.

that's true. but I feel like it's a very small minority. I need to work on more paintings but I don't feel like any of them are good enough either :--(

hey unrelated but who's the girl who does animation in our school? everyone was talking about her and said I was a dick when I wasn't impressed with what she did (I am a dick and snob tho so it's nothing new lol). I want to take a lil freshman under my wing. she has a lot of potential to be a really good fine artist. I feel bad that I feel strongly apathetic towards most fan art now— but that's a long rant for later.

I went completely barbaric with the painting I did at school (The Degas one,cabinet thingy. )
Heck that came out pretty well. =w =
And wweelll, that's actually a pretty common way to feel towards your own work, step back and look at it from a different angle. : D

yea. I just feel like fan art is good to create strong technical skill, but in the end if you aren't creating original pieces you aren't advancing half of what being an artist is (creativity!) and just building off pre developed things. it's not even a realism thing. you can do a lot with strong technical skill. once I got out of drawing anime I felt a lot better about what I was making too. idk #artsnobthings

And truth be told, I think we all feel a heck of a lot better when we stopped doing fan-art for a while. Kind of more of the free feeling, you know?
