Assuming one key to one door, the way I'd do it would be to assign a unique index to your key that matches the door it opens. Your player would have a dynamic array global to its internal functions that stores these index numbers as integers. Each time a player gets close to a door, it grabs the door's index and compares it against its array of keys, if a match is found the door unlocks. Picking up items can be handled similarly. [this] link will help you immensely. Things to look up are arrays, vectors, local and global scope, return types and frame tick count.

I had the most darkly beautiful idea today, it will push me in modeling and design concepts. Going to do a test first that will take some time because go lots of UT3 thing I don't know how to do.

Everything's goin pretty good here. A bit over half way through the first year of my Cert IV in Screen which is still a ridiculously fun course ^_^

Keep tellin myself I'll put somethin new up but always manage to get distracted/sidetracked with everyday things

Srry man, been busy with a few things, work included, but mainly just need to get my priorities straight with what to be workin on. Mainly need to play less games

Also workin my way through all the tutes on Ben Mathis's website. Really good resource for anyone looking to go into 3d or concept art. His tutes can be found [here]

The masking technique he uses to concept is somethin I've just never considered before now. Over the next couple of days I hopefully can get the time to play around with it, so stay tuned for a couple of concept roughs or such.

Pretty good, gettin lots of work these days, both for my art and otherwise. Gettin plenty of opportunity to practice too ^_^ Love bein an artist at AIE.

he eh I'm hoping Seb lets me help out at the AIE, would be good for me. Not yet but I do have two things in the planning, 1 is a interior space ship type thing UT3 level and the other is an industrial scene.
