It's just, I'm mot a huge fan of /being/ in pictures - I much prefer to take them, haha. I'm also kind of stuck on my campus, since I can't drive.
But uhm. I mostly go out to cons with a small group of friends, or at the very least I hang out with my brochacho. It'd be cool to be in a group, but right now the only cosplays I even have are Homestuck ones - with a couple more being plotted for the near future.
I've also kind of got my hands full with trying to be an event coordinator for a fair number of people. ^ ^;;

But anyway.
I can also see Marquis interpreting it as a sort of title rather than a name, and then getting miffed that he a) didn't know what the title meant and b) Guy didn't attach a family name to said title.
When introducing himself, Guy doesn't usually put 'The' in front of it - he was taking a jab at the way Marquis introduced himself - because Guy is, in most cultures, accepted as a name.
He also self-identifies as simply 'that guy', and many people (though lack of name to use) tend to refer to him that way anyway.
He personally doesn't place a lot of importance on names, beyond them being a more convenient point of reference than simple nouns.
Though, I suppose the reasons that Guy refers to himself as such didn't exist until the term 'guy' became an alternative for referring to a person - but, according to that page, it didn't occur until some time after Trip to Paris (despite the original story being written after the cited date).

Marquis definitely would be used to Guy being a first name, since it's not too uncommon as a French name. The lack of family name thing works. Or maybe Marquis could tell he was being mocked XD

Marquis does seem like he'd pick up on such things pretty quick, too. Considering as how it's important to a person of power. I think we played it off as Marquis thinking he was being mocked, though. Since Guy gave his name as if it were a title.
Yes indeed. It's interesting thinking about the words he normally uses versus the words that were normally used within the time period he's in. Not to mention any slang or other terms that come up due to him spending time on Flipside rather than Earth.

Most of the time he's aware of when he's using terms people aren't familiar with, but most of the time he doesn't bother to try and find an in-period equivalent. Which gets hilarious when he's being funny, sarcastic, or just plain sassy.

My classes are gonna be a lot more manageable this quarter, my professors are all cool people who clearly know what they're doing, and my new roommate finally showed up and she's pretty cool~
