notice you’re from Germany. Ton of history there! I visited the Rhine Valley
and Black Forest years ago and thought it was gorgeous!
I found that a lot of people here in the U.S. don’t don't know much about their own
country, much less anyone else's.
I post prayer updates about different countries. Part of the reason is to raise awareness about what's going on in the rest of the world.
Recently I’ve started my own private initiative; if I notice someone on DA is from
another country, if I've done their country I let them know. It’s my way of letting them know that others are thinking about their home.

Hey
Yes, I am from Germany but I'm not proud of our history. In school we've talked about the second world war so many times.
And it's just so bad, terrible and cruel what Germany did in the past.
I just cannot get over this. I understand that the world doesn't like us anymore but it bothers me that many people see us Germans as villains although my generation had nothing to do with this.
In Germany it is also seen as the most horrible thing that had ever happened (1939-1945). Germans are not Nazis and most of us are so so sorry about what had happend. We have grown up. We are not racists (maybe only a tiny tiny TINY amount of people, but those are seen as criminals). And most of us are just so sad about our past.
And what is even worse is that we can't change it... I thought I could talk about this with you since you're a wonderful person.

And don't worry not everyone thinks Germans are monsters. Every country
has darkness in their history and the U.S. is no exception.
Speaking for myself I've always had a fascination with German history
and culture. The country itself is beautiful and I've always appreciated
its art and music. (And especially its Fairy Tales!)
And remember the Reformation began in Germany.
