Hey George, have you ever given thought to drawing Blackfire with her comic book boyfriend Dor'ion?

In the 80s, Blackfire had what is quite possibly the creepiest and yet most compelling romance in all of comics...

This man sincerely loved Blackfire because he believed her to be the leader their planet needed. The leader who could make Tamaran strong. Dor'ion routinely fought off the Tamaranian hunters seeking to kill Blackfire while she was helpless. He always reminded her what she taught him and the other supporters—The cause most come first!

However, Blackfire was rendered blind by her battle with Starfire for control of the planet and lost her will to fight, conquer and rule. Dori'on said he would train her to be what she once was and the cause will come first as it once did....

In response, Blackfire—the woman who sold out her planet, got 5 million of her people killed, who sold her sister in to slavery for 6 years purely out of spite—somehow genuinely loved someone enough to say these words:

"The cause? it means nothing to me now...but it means so much to you doesn't it? All right my love. You've already done so much for me...I will do as you wish." 

How is Blackfire, a woman consumed by jealously and murderous hatred, able to do this? How can she reconcile the evils she did with the fact that she actually loves someone enough for their own sake? Again it must be stressed that this was NOT a cartoonish evil relationship. They were not exploiting each other. They were not trying to get anything out of each other. This was a genuine romance. She loved him with all her heart. She wept bitterly when Dor'ion died, even as she buried him.

It is a creepy but fascinating relationship.
