for my 3d stuff I use the mechanical drafting program Inventor, for the fractals I use Apophysis, and I do touch-up stuff with photoshop.

So what software do you use for your 3D renderings? I am an AutoCAD user and have just started to fool around with Revit.

I have been using Autodesk Inventor, and doing editing in photoshop. I have recentlky started playing around in Solid Works though. In order to get the "renders" I full view the shaded image on the screen and take a screenshot, its a pretty ghetto mehtod, but its the only way I can think of capturing the images

I am not sure but I think you may be able to export the rendered image as a bitmap or an encapsulated post script (EPS). Try looking in help for "export".
