Just saw your collage The Reef. Amazing stuff, such patience! On my way down here to comment, I noticed someone mentioned the hard edges on some of you "figures"...I think the Gimp has a soften brush. Running it lightly around the edges will help things to blend when you merge. Using a blur on the layer is too much, the brush works better.
Not trying to be negative...this is one of those little things you pick up along the way. I admit I don't use Gimp too much...use PSP and a couple of other graphics programs. But a soften brush is pretty standard stuff, check it out.

nice stuff, Im very impressed, but onething, on most ofyour collages, the edges of individal fractals are too hard, maybe put a blur at the edge of them?
