Well, to make it short: It has no real meaning! :D (Big Grin)
The llama badge is something you can collect. With the time you get more llamas and as soon as you have a specific number your llamas upgrade. You can see the different stages here:

You can also give llamas to other users if you want to show, that you like their work. Some people also trade llamas, so they say "If you give me a llama, I'll give you a llama as well." And some people just randomly give llamas to gain attention.
There are other badges like cake-badges. You can view your badges here .
They are just fun things to collect and to show sympathy to other artists. You can read the FAQ about llamas here:
