Hello, May I ask a question. Did you create those pieces of art that I see to the left of this box. If so, what program did you use to convert the photo into the color "clip art" version. I have several photos that I want to do the same thing with but have no ides how to. Please reply to sprange@indy.rr.com
Thanks
Steve Prange

Thanks for the fav! If I can I will get out and make some images of the vintage fire stations in this town for you. Most have closed and the two new ones that remain open to cover the town, the city is talking about shutting down soon to go to a volenteer format for lack of funds to pay the fire fighters. Things are real bad here. Thanks for looking.

Your Welcome. That is a shame about the fire stations but reading in the paper it is happening all over, which is really a bad idea in my eyes.

The city built a new station about three years ago ( ugly thing, like modern art ) and it will be the only one to cover a population of 48,000. It is a dangerous situation and mutual aid only goes so far. At one point we had two smaller stations in each corner of the city and one central station. now just one in the middle of town. Get an alarm on the periphery and the response time will be a nightmare as they have to snake through these streets. As well the hydrants in some areas have not been maintained due to mismanagement of funds ( the city solicitor committed suicide after being caught with 68,000 in city money) Many hydrants are broken or have round metal tags on them saying out of service so even if they get where they a called they may not have the water resource they need. The outcome will not be good but the city council thinks everything will be fine, or at least thatβs what they want us to believe. The Mayerβs answer is to start building these awful looking strip malls in a historic looking town with borrowed state funds to try and get business back in the city, but no one has the money to shop, at least I do not, and the malls donβt supply enough jobs so most of the stores close a year after being opened, and we have another empty building for the graffiti artist to work on. It really is the death of a once industrial town.

What a shame, sounds to me that the people of the town should all get together and vote everyone of them out of office. The are to look out for the good of the town and the people. I hate people like that and I even work for the borough I work in and the council people know not to step on my toes cause I come back with steam and I am the one in charge of all maintance in the borough. They advise the office what they see has to be done and then it is passed onto me and half the time I have already taken care of it. all the people in town are always telling them how nice the town looks now since I took over the job and they went to the council before I was there and came right out and told them, get on the stick or you are all out of here. That shook up the chicken coop.

Whish that would happen here. We have a new mayor sheβs 22 years old, and has not a clue on how things should work. People wanted change but picked, in my opinion, the wrong person for the job, as things have only gotten much worse. Now they want to override our prop 2 1/2 that limits how much they can raise the property tax in a given year so they can bail themselves out of the hole and pass the burden of mismanagement on the taxpayers. If they do that most here will not be able to live in the town any longer and a lot of elderly will lose their homes having not have enough to pay the higher taxes. Lose - lose situation typical for small town Massachusetts politics.

If you ever do make sure you get a place to stay at least six months ahead as there is not as many places to stay as there use to be and they go fast. We made ours while we were there already even though we are not sure of the date except it is in sept.
