# About me

Meet Shari, a slightly broken nurse (following a misguided foray into the world of skateboarding) who has suddenly found herself with a boatload of time on her hands.
Cue the reopening of an old DeviantArt account that has been hardly touched in over three years.

...

So I have been doing all sorts of things over the past little while, venturing into ceramic paints and ye olde sketches (which are, what one might kindly term, 'rusty beyond all belief'). Hoping that getting involved on DA again might inspire me to improve my techniques. The imagination has stagnated a little, too... Ah, grown-up life... *le sigh*

Anywho, please be patient, and give as much brutal feedback as ye wish. I can take it.

Thanks!

Aww, me too!
Man, nostalgia much?
I still have images of shifty looking guys in trench coats, trying to sell kittens in dark alleyways... is that odd?

Yeah, university is a real spare-time killer, isn't it?

Hopefully, though, it'll all be over and done with in a few short months. (Yay!)

Of course, had I not failed that one assignment last semester, I would have been out and working by now, but... ahem. Yeah...

So, What Have You Been Doing With Yourself, My Dear Delightful Friend?

Oh, and I love your photos!
They've been improving noticeably over the last, what? year? two years? (D: I'm terrible, I know!), I just rarely leave comments any more... Forgive me?

Heh, you're awesome, did you know that?
You just used the word 'implore', in context, in an everyday situation.

I like that.

...

On topic though, sorry, what can I say?
University has become my creative Kryptonite.

Actually no, that isn't a complete truth, I've been drawing stuff but have no time to do anything with it. Which is almost as bad.

Oh well, 'tis but six weeks 'til the years end, my friend!
I cannot wait.

Though I suppose I shall be forced to.

Curse you reality!

Blast university, and it's stranglehold over our little lives!

You can survive six weeks!... Though that is rather odd, we've just started the year!

Hang in there mi'lady

djsharzykat In reply to Hades-shadow [2008-09-09 07:46:10 +0000 UTC]

You just started?
Really?
Wow...

We begin in late February. The year is divided into three semesters but we don't have any on-campus classes third semester. Thus EARLY HOLIDAYS!
Huzzah! -

Thanks for the support! Go team!

I hope you enjoy getting your edu-ma-cation.

Are you at uni yet or is it still this 'college' thingame that you attend?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Hades-shadow In reply to djsharzykat [2008-09-10 15:43:42 +0000 UTC]

Yes, just started

You are very lucky... So lucky
Come and live in England, and I shall go live with the big poisonous spiders, snakes, and happy students!

Most thoroughly enjoying my "edu-ma-cation" so much so, that I'm utterly terrified of one of my psychology tutors, who is so horrifically strict and scary, through the use of methods such as public humiliation, locking late students out, and swearing using such phrases as "this is pissing me off now" and "you really fucking need to attend and be punctual"... that I feel....scared

It's "college" as I said, Nursery > Junior school / primary school > secondary school > either work, or college. If college then > University, > work (cry)
My final year of college, then work AND university... go me

djsharzykat In reply to Hades-shadow [2008-09-23 15:02:45 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, I thought I'd already replied to you at some previous junction in time.
Obviously I was mistaken...

Have you ever heard that song by the Australian comedy trio 'Tripod' regarding our danger for tourists? ... heh, I think you'd enjoy its' sentiments.
:note: Come to Australia... where you miiight accideeeentally get kiiiiiiiilled... :note:

Hmm, amusing...in theory only of ocurse...

Anywho, yes, I am but 4 weeks from freedom (in a way) and am muchly grateful for this fact.

I do pity you your tutor though... I hate confrontational educators. They don't tend to be conducive to an interactive learning environment. In my experience, anyways...

WHat kind of work are you thinking of getting into?

Psychiatrist?
Therapist??
Criminal profiling???
...
Kindergarten teaching????

Oh the possibilities...

Heh, actually I think you would need some knowledge in the working of the human mind solely to deal with all the mothers of 5 year old children.

(Mothers are quite possibly the second scariest mammals on the planet, surpassed only by Chiuauas).

And yes, isn't it fascinating to note how we are educated in order to eventually be able support ourselves financially by working, however most of that financial income from the work is inevitably spent on paying for the education and starve in the interim.

Interesting.

Hades-shadow In reply to djsharzykat [2008-09-24 14:41:26 +0000 UTC]

Nooes, you left me hanging in space

lol no I havn't heard that song, though I shall indeed make an effort to try and listen to it at some point, when my internet is stable (It keeps getting cut :'()

four weeks? Brace yourself, because here comes a true drama-queen-esque statement... OMIGOD, You needs to have a big ole party, with lots of alcohol (and non-alcoholic drinks, for us non drinkers) and loud music \m/.

I'm really not certain of what kind of work Im going to go into, the subjects I'm taking (philosophy, photography, psychology, sociology, introduction to counselling, and peer mentoring) can lead to a variety of different things; social work, profiling, clinical psychology(therapist), research positions, photo journalism, behavioral analysts etc...
Got the rest of the year to think of what type of work to get into while studying at uni

I thought Christians, and as a matter of fact, almost any followers of any doctrine, were the scariest creature in the world!

The uni route I'm planning on taking, is the OpenUniversity, which is independent study with the ocassional lecture and stuff, but it has it's pros and cons.. cons are; it takes twice as long as a mainstream uni, and its' all independent work (very little assistance from tutors) however the pro's are, I actually get paid to do it, as opposed to paying huge fee's, and it allows me to work in the meantime.

Oh, and I just remembered, that song is called 'Deadly Animals (Come to Australia)'... and it's by Scared Weird Little Guys... not Tripod.

My bad.

Check'em out though. They amuse me no end.

When your internet it fixed, of course.

My condolences on that front by the by.

Heh, I'm a J.W. so, umm....

Though you can't exactly call our beliefs doctrines, I must say. And only /some/ of us are scary... Heh.

Anywho, you're one of those Over-Achieving types, aren't you? ... I know one of them. Commonly known as thy elder brother.

You've kind of got your options open for you a bit there don't-cha?

That's what I hated the most about finishing high school. I had to make a Big Decision... (note all the capitalisations).

My problem was (and still is to some extent) tooooo many options and tooo little decisiveness.

There was art, music, writing, photography, teaching and finally (what I ended up doing) nursing.

So yes, I chose the one with the least artist scope, intelligent individual that I am. Though I do draw on my patients bandages occasionally. I'm sure they love it. Not that they have much say in the matter...

*cough*

Anywho, this 'Independent Study' sounds interesting... then again, so do bowel resections... though I don't think I'd really enjoy the second so much...

This would involve self motivation, right?

Wow... I look up to you. (I have little to none of the aforementioned stuff. It's kind of sad actually)...

And lucky for getting paid... We (of my course) work 2 shifts a week at whatever hospital we're placed at without pay. ... Actually, we kind of pay them to work as it's part of our course and we pay for that...

*Melancholy Sigh...*

Mmmm, long commenting...

Peace Out Brussel Sprout!

By the way, my celebrating generally involves the heavy indulgence in over sleeping. Yep, that's how hard-core I am! - Rawr.

A J.W ?

And noo, I'm an average achiever, and I'm the youngest of my siblings! Thou argument hast been identified as fallacious!

Kinddd of got my options open, finding work in a place like Brighton is a nightmare though, we have over 3 universities, so all the cheap jobs are taken, and all the best jobs are post-graduate... blaar

Out of interest, what kinds of things do you draw on your patients bandages? You should definately draw a reaper on one... and wink at them whilst smiling, everytime you pass them by!...indeed

Yes indeed it would require self motivation, that's why I listed it as a negative, as I'm a little short of that faculty.

It's sad to hear that you don't get any pay for your work, and not only that, but to add insult to injury; you pay to WORK!

Sleep...mmmmmm sleeeeeeepppp *sno..* w-wha?

PS: I'm more of a roast potato than a sprout

Jehovah's Witness.
You know... the ones that call at your door? That's us.

Youngest sibling? Of how many?
I just have the one onii-san, though I've unofficially adopted maaaany many (whether they want it or not) to be my (unwilling) siblings.

Yeah... in rural Australia you have the options of fruit picking/packing, or working at a checkout.

...

Bleh on both accounts.

I draw strange semi-smiling faces on my patients bandages generally. And though that reaper idea is amusing, I wouldn't want to be the one at blame for the sudden decline in a patient's health because I've made them agitated and not-calm-but-kind-of-freaked-out-an-suspicious...

Kudos on the concept though.

Mmm, the only good thing is I have a scholarship, which is nice in that it allows me to eat and all that, y'know, 'vital' other stuff.

Mmmm, miscellaneous goods such as music...

If you are a roast potato, can I be a roast sweet potato?

'Coz they are pretty coloured and
sweet.

Hehe.

K, ...

I can think of no fare-thee-well that rhymes with 'otato', how sad.

Ummmm, a bit of both?

I don't know, just your general, all round, caring/cleaning/needling kinda registered nurse...

Most likely ward work, though I don't know, not having decided as yet.
That would involve forethought on my part, and I think we both know how comfortable I am with that. Or maybe we don't.
