Yeah, its a very nice lens, tho the sigma goes down to 10mm which makes it go widest of the wide

Well that's true. I use the Sigma a lot and it's nice to be able to go so wide, but it does get soft in the corners and it also vignettes with filters at 10mm.
When I upgrade to a full frame D3 I'll go with the 17-35 lens...which gives the same coverage as a 12mm, and I don't think I'll miss the extra width.

Yeah, the D3 fullframe sure looks godly! Wish I had the money to buy something like that. Maybe ill be able to afford a D300 if I save up enough I just got to get ahold of some ND filters from ebay to get some better shots. Any tips for good filters would be nice.

Well, if you're going to use a really wide angle lens like a 10 or 12mm then it's better to get larger 100mm filters like the Cokin ZPro series of Lee.
