I asked the AAC staffers (about the Artist's Alley) at their table outside of the vendor room, while at AB. That is what they said too.
The sign-ups have usually been during the first week of June the past few years, as well. If I remember correctly.

It doesn't matter what you do with my plushies, pretend to eat it, or feed it to other plushies, or really anything. Little kids come by my tables all the time and just squish just about everything.
