thinkin bout applying to sva eh?
well from the looks of your gallery, let me tell you congradulations cause your in. no joke. you got it in the bag for sva.
as for building a good portfolio try to get a range of different pieces that show that you are open minded to trying everything. Observational pieces are their favorite. Try to keep things out that you did from imagination. I know Parsons for sure says NO imagination work..all from real like.. that dont mean you cant be creative though. Just do your best and then you'll know that you are showing a portfolio that expresses ur best work.
I recommend you goin to Portfolio Day where you can show your portfolio to a number of differnt colleges in one day. Then you can get some real good advice and ideas of what people want. Also, attend some open houses that have portfolio reviews..the more people see your portfolio, the more comments you will receive.
I don't know if you were planing on applying to Cooper Union, but I know they have a very good afterschool drawing program that is FREE! And you can gothere even if you don't plan on going there. It's called Student Outreach Program if you were unaware of it. Since you are in the city, I say you should check that out. From seeing your deviantart gallery I see you're into Photography. Cooper Union also offers free photgraphy classes. I took em..theyre cool. All you need is some work from your portfolio that they will review and if they like your ish you in. i think a winter session should be comin around soon so look it up on their site.
Ah yes, another thing. The sketchbook. Everyone wants to see the sketchbook. So yea, sketch in that lil book and draw watever, whenever..doodle and write in it..all that ish. They looove lookin at those...
and something that I didnt really do, apply to more than one school.. they pretty much all give scholarships.

hihi! just a quick comment back on the id i have....

first of all, all those images belong to square. rinoadotnu didn't buy the images, they just host them. regardless of who hosts the images, credit always goes to the maker of the images, not the hostee.

second, credit actually goes to me finding the movie where yuna's falling from some random french site online... i watched the movie 'til i got to the point i wanted and printscreened it. i didn't get anything from rinoadotnu. besides, her shrines drive me nuts... the windows are way too small, and for my shiva wallpaper i didn't use any of her images from her shiva shrine because they're also way too small. credit also goes to square for one of their wallpapers, which i zoomed in closely on for the water, relique for the brushes, and i think gamespot for everything else.

so... i understand where you're coming from, but be aware that proper credit goes to the artist, not the host, and also that the images used may not have come from the site you think they did. bear in mind ffx is all over the internet.
