It's great to know that not all members are here just because theyre so enthralled in customizing and that someone is actally lookin at the art, you deserve so much more credit for that.

Hello, since you said that you know a bit about talents and stuff I would really appreciate if you take a look at my account. Im trying to do commisions but no one is asking for pictures from me, so far the only sale i made was a tutorial. I would love it if you would take a look and tell me what my problem is so i can actually get commisions going. Thank you

Svetlana:
Please forgive me for being so slow answering your note. Between being sick and having a contrary computer, I have been somewhat incommunicato.
I love your work. I confess I had never visited your site. Now I have it as a fav. I am particularly impressed with the scope of your stuff. You work in several different types of art (anthro, fantasy, etc.) Your stuff goes from very simple anime type art to very complex works with shading and a great deal of detail.
As for comissions...
I see some areas I might be very interested in comissioning you for. My sister is particularly fond of dragons. I would love to have a set of original dragon drawings to give her as a gift. I also see some stuff I would like to hang on my wall. I will think about this and let you know what my interests are.
Technically, you are already a very talented artist. I think you suffer from what many here on DA suffer from. You must learn that for art to be good for sale, it must catch the buyers eye. Something in the work must capture the buyers imagination. In short, it must tell a story. All works of art tell a story whether it is a drawing, a painting, a piece of music, sculpture or whatever. It must evoke a vision in the beholders eye. It must stir a feeling of being in the scene with the character. It might even cause a strong emotional response. Create a scene in your minds eye, then put a character into the scene. A dragon for instance, is attractive in and of itself. Put the dragon in a scene that tells a story and it becomes a work of art. Start with the premise or theme of the work and add the character once it is determined what it will be doing to create or reenforce that theme.
I oversimplify perhaps. This is called composition. As a photographer, usually I let the camera take care of the technical issues of taking a good picture. I try to concentrate on telling a story with the picture. You must learn to do the same. Where I work from real life, you have the luxury of being able to create the scene from your beautiful imagination. Let it fly......

wow, that really put everything in perspective for me, I still need practice in doing scenes because I dont truly know how to make good backgrounds, I will need to work on it. But thank you for your input and if you ever need me to draw a dragon I would be glad to.

This goes back to what I was saying. Backgrounds are the scene of the story you are telling. The main character is merely an actor in that story. I will think on this a while to see if I can suggest some ideas for scenarios for you. I need to keep them in line with the type of characters you like to draw. The pretty but amorphorus backgrounds you are currently doing suggest that you draw the character and then merely fill in the white space afterwards. This is fine at first, but you must learn to see scenes in your minds eye.
